Looking back on last night"s game - I was almost in a trance playing - I didn"t do anything particularly wrong but weird to be so on auto-pilot!
Looks like a day off the day today.
I had lunch with my father, just turned 77, still very quick of mind, a good omen.
I am not sure that he has ever played poker, but he enjoys a game of nomination whist, still time to get him on tour??
It would be good to have a legitimate hand that was your age - tricky though - at the moment I am playing 36 (suited)
Further it must be really gutting to reach 40, no legitimate hand for two whole years!
Aside - I visited my mother the other evening and her husband (re-married) had made five rough hewn xylophones from some Norweigan Maple from a local wood - I think this is the kind of news that should go on News at Ten.
We then discussed the difference between Xylophones and Marimbas:

... easily satisfied ... smile.
Further dialogues to follow.
I was thinking about Diogenes the other night - he was a philosopher who lived in a tub and ate onions - rejecting all refinements (such as clothing) - so the story goes Alexander the Great ships up to ask him what he could do for him - to which Diogenes replies "... you can stand out of my light and let me see the sun"
Class!
Who is your favourite philosopher and why?
