In seriousness the second one is difficult, however nothing is more important than family, If you are serious about the girl poker takes back seat - if you"re not then it wasn"t meant to be in the first place.

Although I am not really one to give advice in that dept.

IMO - (in my Opinion) FWIW - for what its Worth - There has to be a compromise - Duke is right Family Should always come first - but if the Girlie Complains too much then you need to do 1 of two things -

1 - get her playing -

2 - win a load of dough and the treat her to shoes, handbag, dress etc etc - it is amazing what spending a bit of poker winnings on your other-half for making them and you feel better about the hours put in at the table!

PS i haven"t worked out FYP yet either

Ant, the problem to point two lies in the venue.

If we were in London again, with a 2pm start, you could play the Poker*, take her for a nice meal, then catch a show with a few drinks after and still be back at your hotel room in time for Dancing On Ice or whatever other reality dross is on.

Then everyone would be happy  ;D

Unfortunately it would appear that Nottingham does not hold the same appeal for her. (Can"t understand why!!!!  ;))

(*Disclaimer - This is no way intended as a slur on your Poker playing ability but is based upon your past APAT performances. It should be noted that game duration times can go up aswell as down)

My problem with point 2 is that my better half can take it personally when I play poker.

"why are you playing poker when you could be playing with me?" is a standard question that is particularly difficult to field.

I find its a case of defining it as an interest/hobby, similar to 5-a-side. I try and make a lot of time for the wife and try and explain that poker whilst being important to me is not as important as her, but at the end of the day i need to have a variety of interests. I"d love to share as many of these interests as possible with her, but there does come a point where our interests differ. she likes shopping and i hate it but i"ll still go shopping with her.

Question 2 is simple just keep saying "yes Dear"
Form is temporary, but class is permanent

Girlfriends are not family.  You can choose them, you can"t choose family.  Ask her why she gets so p*ssed off with the idea of you enjoying yourself.
