have played a few more

Tournaments Entered = 28
Heads Up on 1st table = 10
Final Tables reached = 6
Minor Cashes = 0
Seats Won = 3
ROI = 96.9%

I know I"ve only played a handful but these look a great way to build a roll. Great spot guys

Have to say though there is no point cashing in the tourney $ for a slight loss. Just use them to play other tourneys and STTs and cash out the cash made from them...if you have to!!

Well done Rob, keep it up.

good luck with the golf!

Managed to qualify for the handi-side in pretty horrendous conditions. It was a non-counter last night at St. Nicholas as only 7 of us (from 42 runners) shot in the 70s. Onto Old Prestwick now on Thursday night.

It"s been a quiet poker week for me.  Managed to play a few tournaments yesterday and have gone back to playing standard MTT"s.  I decided I didn"t want to sit down at the Fitz on the weekend thinking I needed to beat the table in front of me to move onto the FT.  (Although, there"s a thought for speeding up the weekend  ;D )

Managed to finish 221st out of 2898 for a small cash for the bankroll.  Luky spent the afternoon on the golf course.  He never mentioned how he got on, so I am assuming the swing requires some work.   ;D

This morning, he was back on the winning trail, picking up another seat in the Double Shootouts.  He"s completely outshining me at the moment.

Unfortunately, just myself making the trip over to Dublin this weekend, Neil is spending quality time with Mrs Luky.   ;D

This will most probably involve playing poker and keeping updated with the APAT tourney on the forum.

Actually, on that point, I was playing a tourney the other day that Neil was railing.  He mentioned in the chat that "we" were keeping an eye on my play.  I said "Who"s we ?".   He said "Me and Jules".

Does anyone elses partners sit with them whilst they are railing someone else ?

I had this picture of Neil and Jules sat around this monitor in the middle of nowhere (well it is Scotland) watching the cards and bets.  I understand she is a better player than him, so was probably explaining to him what was going on.  ;D

So , last weekend the Luky and Chip roadshow (minus Chip) went to Glasgow to play live, this weekend (minus Luky) we hit Dublin.  May the Guiness flow plenty, the cards be kind and I win more than Neil.  ;D

Getting my Missus to listen to my latest Bad Beat, without switching off is hard enough, getting her to look at a monitor with cards on is impossible!! If it was the shopping channel, now thats a different thing altogether  :D

Nah, despite losing last night at 4th play-off hole my swing is good atm. Just a couple more tweaks ...

Nope, no poker for me this weekend but I will be keeping updated with events from Dublin on the laptop whilst basking in the HeatWave.

She isn"t better than me (she has her moments in home games) and she really only likes poker when she sees me winning or playing in my most focused state. She is a good sounding board for my bad beat tales (of which there are many) and is as supportive of my hobbies (poker and golf) as you can get. Supportive enough that for Christmas I got permission in advance to have 4 weekends away without her.

We only watch poker together if someone we know is running well. She just gets caught up in my excitement for others really.

The Roadshow last week was unfruitful with 50% of the BuyIns coming from this joint fund (£35 down). It was a sober affair ... maybe that"s where I went wrong  :-[

Well, it was all going so well up to the dinner break.  Without getting involved in anything really major, I had built a stack up to around 24k.

I then lost a few small pots after dinner and made a major error in a hand that cost me half my stack.  On a board of Q T 6 T 6, I had been chasing a flush draw and open ended straight draw and then decided to bet out this scary board on the river.  I got called by Richard Hinds holding AQ and that dented me considerably.  A great call though.

I short while later and the same player has raised to 2100 on the button, in the big blindm I"ve got AJ and shove my 6.5k in the middle.  Richard says "How do I get myself into these spots"  as he"s already counting out the chips.  I thought I was in a spot of bother.  Neither wanted to show their hands and as the flop started being dealt we had both flipped over  and Richard showed KJ.   I looked to see a King on the flop, and I thought that was it.  A Queen gave me hope of a straight, but it wasn"t to be.

Having seen some of the hands over the weekend, getting your chips in ahead in this game is very much overrated.

No complaints though.  I got myself into that position with my one and only bluff of the day.   ;D

So, nothing for the joint bankroll, to be honest, that trophy would have been a bugger to cut up and split between us anway.   ;D

Roll on Edinburgh, where I hope we will both be playing.

I got to play the 55 euro freezeout at the Fitz last night, once the APAT game had finished.  Late entry for the first hour, so sat down at a table with James Edwards two to my right.  A great tournament, very much up and down time.

Scouse then bought in and took the seat to my immediate left.  I think he managed about 12 minutes in total before getting knocked out.  Very funny stuff.

All sorts of hands going on.  I had a couple of mad laydowns.

I folded  ah 7h on a board of  8d ac ad1  jd  when the guy shoves all-in on the turn.

Then next hand, after raising pre flop with  th ts and getting a caller, the board of  jd ac ad  and an all-in shove, scared me off.

Eventually went out to an elderly local chap by the name of Paddy.  He had limped into a pot on my big blind.  I had  js 9s, the flop came  6d jh kc, so it seemed as good a place as any to get my remaining stack in.

Now Paddy has already been dealt aces twice, kings once and flopped quad 3"s since I"ve been sitting at the table, so I"m thinking he can"t keep hitting.  He calls quite quickly, and I think I"m in trouble.  He"s got  kd jc and that"s me done for.

In the time it took me to get up the stairs to say goodbye to a few people, James was following.  I said "Have they split the table then ?"

He replied, "No, I"m out, shoved all-in to isolate a shorter stack with pocket Jacks, she had Tens I think.  The Big Blind woke up with pocket Aces and knocked them both out"

The dealers at The Fitz are evil at times (But also very good)   ;D

Was your trip Aces fold correct - did the person show - I think I am calling that one.

Showed the other ace.  He had raised preflop.  He claimed afterwards that his hand couldn"t improve after the flop.

I"m pretty sure he was raising with more than A7, so I was okay with it.  Hated doing it, but right fold.   ;D

Just finished the DTD Deepstack satellite (50 Seats gtd)

Was sat in 50th place when the bubble burst, which seems quite efficient to me.

Mad last twenty minutes, no hand for hand, which is a nightmare.

Just got to work out if I can make it this weekend or whether I transfer it to July instead.

A great end to a great long weekend.

Back to the DTD Deepstack qualifier last night, in the cold light of day, here"s a few thoughts on the latter stages of the tournament.

It really does become a crapshoot (as is the case with most satellites) with everyone hanging on for a seat.  What did disappoint me though was that there was a lot of softplay going on and everyone, not just the short stacks, running down their clocks.

It seemed that quite a lot of people knew each other and on my table there was even calls to give the shortstack a walk with only one player left to go.

In my view, this is wrong and verges on cheating.  It is not helped by a lack of hand for hand on the software and the chatbox can still be used when a player is all-in.

When down to 51 players, I shoved with my 6k stack into the shortie (3k) who was already all in on the big blind.  I had AK suited and he was very fortunate to hit a straight.  I"ve no problem with that.

I am then very shortstacked along with another player on another table, who eventually shoves from mid position with their remaining 625 chips.  It folds round to the blinds (3k/6k) and the small blind, with a stack of 20k+ chooses not to make up the blind and folds.  wtf ?

I was lucky and the bb rivered a straight, so I made it through.

Thinking about it this morning, if I had bubbled, I think I would have been straight on to DTD questioning the play at the end of the tournament.  Not sure it would have got me anywhere and in this case, for my sake, it makes no difference.

However, it shouldn"t go on.  Playing hand for hand would help the situation.

Rant over.   ;D
