European Amateur Poker Festival - November 2009

The European Amateur Poker Festival will be held at the magnificent G Casino in Luton, England, between November 19th and 22nd, 2009.  The festival will comprise two events.



1)  The European Amateur Team Championship

The European Amateur Team Championship will be made up of 16 international teams of 4 players; and will be played on November 19th and 20th, with play starting at 2.30pm on both days.  The format of the Championship will be as follows:-

Day One - Thursday, November 19th:

2.30pm - 8 x single table matches featuring every country and player.

6.30pm - 8 x single table matches featuring every country and player.

10.30pm - 8 x heads up matches featuring one player from every country.

12.30pm - 8 x heads up matches featuring one player from every country.

Day Two - Friday, November 20th:

2.30pm - 8 x heads up matches featuring one player from every country.

4.30pm - 8 x heads up matches featuring one player from every country.

6.30pm - 8 x single table matches featuring every country and player.

10.30pm - 8 x single table matches featuring every country and player.

A total of 192 points will be available on each day of play, with individual countries able to win a maximum of 72 points over both days.

The inaugural Champions were Ireland and 16 countries from the following list are expected to take part:-

The following video summarises the outcome of the 2008 European Amateur Team Championship.




The entry fee for the event will be £400 per country. 

The top three finishing countries will receive a cash award plus Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.  The winning team will be presented with the European Amateur Team Championship Cup.

Each player selected to captain or play for their country will be awarded a specially commissioned international team shirt featuring their national flag, event and sponsor details.  Participants will also receive an option to enter the European Amateur Poker Championship which takes directly after the European Amateur Team Championship.

Team selection policy to be determined by the captain of each country. 

2)  The European Amateur Poker Championship

The European Amateur Poker Championship will feature 200 players and be played on November 21st and 22nd, with play starting at 2.30pm on both days.

Each player will start the event with 10,000 chips and the Championship will be played on a 45 minute clock.

The top twenty players will receive a cash award.  The top three will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.  The winning player will receive the European Amateur Poker Championship Cup plus a paid entry to the GUKPT Grand Final, worth over £3,000.

The defending Champion is Andy Kingan, who won the title in Austria in 2008.

Congratulations to Bruno Rilho from Portimao who has just been named as Captain of the Portugal team.  Bruno most recently took part in the APAT Welsh Amateur Championship in Cardiff.

Thank you....i did really enjoy playing the APAT in Wales,good tournament and everybody made me feel good there,really enjoyed it,thanks to all and im sure in Luton would be the same hope to see u all there,at least everybody i met in Wales....

We advertised for Captains some weeks ago, the post should be below this one on the team board.  APAT selected Captains from those showing an interest.

As stated above, the Captains will choose their teams, based on ability.  Some may refer to this year"s rankings, or last, and some may select players based on specific events or strengths in Sit "N" G or Heads Up play.  I guess we"ll find out as players are selected throughout the Autumn.
