Hi Tom, telephone registration is not an option for leg 1 of the Regionals, however we will be looking to add more registration options with the casinos after this weekend.

Registration will probably open at the same time, or shortly after, the casino opens.

I"m sure Des will be posting all the relevant details shortly.

When we get that information from the casinos we will update here.  The expected opening times will be between midday and 1pm, but we are pulling together an accurate picture across all venues.  Players will be notified here before the weekend.

I rang the Blackpool G Casino yesterday and they said they had not heard of the tourney, and thought I was talking about a rookie tourney they have on....

Anyone else planning to go Blackpool? Also if I take a friend with me, if they register with the casino will they be eligable to play?

Are people who are calling the casinos speaking to the cardroom managers, or to someone on reception or maybe a supervisor?

I"ve called casinos in the past about their regular weekly tournaments, and the person I"ve spoken to has known nothing at all about it.  This is probably the same for APAT.  Internal communication doesn"t seem to be a strong point of casinos.  Neither is their external communication more often than not.

A good point Daniel.

When I phoned Walsall last week, the person I spoke to on reception had no idea what I was talking about (could have been the accent though), but she put me through to the Manager who was well aware of the tourney.

I suspect that APAT and the Grosvenor chain will have everything in order come the weekend. However, we have to remember that this is the first time that Regional qualifiers have been arranged and there are bound to be teething problems running up to the first event.

We also have to remember that it"s a small number of people within APAT that are pulling this altogether, so it may take a little time to answer all the questions being asked.

Answers will be forthcoming though, I have every confidence.

It was the receptionist + cash desk that I talked to, the card room manager is never available but they really do not have a clue about this tournament being on at all.

This is the general problem I"ve found contacting a casino.

The reception don"t know anything about the card room, and the card room is never available to talk to.

I"m guessing that the Grosvenor casinos usually operate in isolation to each other and this could be their first time in working together on a co-ordinated event.  So I am not that surprised with the reaction that is being reported from the various sites and I am certain that as we progress through the season, these teething problems will be ironed out.

I went to the Vic yesterday to complete the membership paperwork and find out about registration and bought my seat while I was there.

To be honest I"m a little worried the Blackpool event might not be on, I"ve phoned a few times and have been met with a complete lack of knowledge of the event existing.

Last time they just gave me a web address and told me to check out a forum to see if it was on lol, aworldofpoker.com - but no mention there either. Also I believe Blackpool does not yet have a new card room manager according to those forums, possibly hence this confusion.

Thing is I don"t want to drive up there on the saturday, 45 min drive, only to be told it is not on when I could have made the Manchester one.
