I"m guessing that the Grosvenor casinos usually operate in isolation to each other and this could be their first time in working together on a co-ordinated event.  So I am not that surprised with the reaction that is being reported from the various sites and I am certain that as we progress through the season, these teething problems will be ironed out.

I went to the Vic yesterday to complete the membership paperwork and find out about registration and bought my seat while I was there.

Fair play for getting a seat in advance, but for those of us not able to get to the casino before the event it seems a little unfair.
Again congrats on getting your seat, but surely this cant be right.

It is wrong for one casino to sell seats in advance when the members have been told that they are only available on the day.  The point of the original post was to point out another of the inconsistencies that are being experienced with the first Regional event.  The task for APAT and the Grosvenor management going forward is to resolve them so that all members get the same excellent experience irrespective of which venue they attend.  I have faith in Des that this will happen.

Have I read that right! You have bought your seat for Saturday already? ???

They don't go on sale till Saturday (don't they?)

I can see me turning up at Manchester at 12.00 for when the doors open and not get a seat

Des can we have a ruling on this

I have just spoken to Gala maybury, they are taking bookings at the casino now (no phone bookings.) I would imagine therefore that there won"t be many seats left when it opens on Saturday.

There isn"t anything else on pokerwise on Saturday afternoon in edinburgh so I reckon a lot of the non-Apat locals will take advantage of the free membership to play in a value tourney.

Not complaining as such, but will make it more difficult for Apaters outside Edinburgh to get a seat.

Perhaps you should have asked them why they have ignored the instructions Des has said they have been given.

Appalling behaviour by the casinos concerned.

Was merely posting for the benefit of anyone intending playing Edinburgh. I do not know what has been agreed between Apat/Casinos so don"t feel it my place to comment.

Thanks for posting that Geo. I"m facing a 2 hour trip to Edinburgh on Saturday with zero prospect of being able to do anything about getting a seat in advance. At least if I know that they"ve been doing this then I can call on Friday and see what the state of play is before deciding whether or not to go.

APAT had warned that it may not go as expected for the first leg but they"ll see what improvements they can make for the second. Personally, I think it"s scandalous that the casinos are doing this leaving those in a position similar to mine little opportunity to participate.

this is news to me Geo,  when i called yesterday to ask when they would be open for registration, they stated that it would be from 1pm on sat afternoon.

if they are already taking registrations i would not be surprised if there are no places left by end of play tonight as the regs down there will take the spaces quickly.

i myself will be going tommorrow afternoon  7h 8h 9h th jh after work  ;D

will post after i get back to advise of position of registrations

Sorry about this everyone.  The casinos should not have been selling seats early.  As stated in a different thread some days ago, APAT hoped to investigate whether the entry period could be extended, but it was agreed that seats would be sold "on the day" for this event - to give everyone an equal chance of securing a seat.

I will be sending an email to each of the casinos this evening to clarify that seats should not be on sale yet.

Similarly, APAT has sent a Regional Tournament Pack to each casino via the National Poker Managers at Grosvenor and Gala.  This information will not be known across the casinos at this point, but obviously everyone will be made aware of the plans for the weekend.

Just phoned Gala Maybury and spoke to Andrew in the cardroom.  Turns out I was not the 1st to phone, and he said they have taken zero bookings to date, and will not be doing so until he clarifies with APAT whether he should or not.

I advised that he could look at this thread, as APAT has stated clearly what should/should not happen.  He said he didnt have acces to internet from where he was, but asked me to post this.

So it seems the Saturday reg is on as planned.  See you there :)

I phoned the Vic in London just now and they say they have 2 registered and the cardroom manager said he had had no instructions as to when Reg"s should and shouldn"t take place.  I mentioned to him that oin the site it is a same day registration and no pre-reg"s and I am only phoning because someone mentioned it on here that they regg"d.  He said the two Reg"s were Gareth or Gerald something and the other a Steve/stuart something, cannot remember to be exact..  He said he would take my word for it that there should be no pre reg"s and would put a note on the PC in order to prevent reg"s.
