maybe you could use BlueSQ to take the payment?

Set up a holding tourney (like they do on other sites for WSOP qualifiers) open reg up at 9, put the max number of seats in and then watch it fill.

Then ask BlueSQ to kindly pay the money over to Des (maybe Des could agree that with them as part of the sponsorship deal)

Then if people want to drop out they just unregister, until the money has gone out. then revert to seat exchange.

What do people think of that?

This is already under consideration and was close to being adopted for this event.  Will revist that before the buy in to the English Amateur Championship in September, as all of the World events are sold out.

Aren"t there a bunch of people who have problems connecting to iPoker?

AOL was one of the ISP"s talked about IIRC, would this mean that people with AOL would get frozen out of the registration process?

Also it would require everyone to have a Blue Square account and to have the money transferred to it.

If someone doesn"t want to play on Blue Square it isn"t too hard to just open one up as a means to an end.

But if someone opens a Blue Square account, loads up the £75 to pay for registration but then is too slow and misses out on a seat - will they be able to just cash straight out their £75 and would it cost them anything to do so?

This was my first experiance of the "clickfest" and i have to admit i was not impressed.  Like others have mentioned before there has to be a better structure.  A structure which would give us all a fair chance of getting in.  8)

You may not be impressed, however it was the same for everyone. Fair as in everybody had the same chance and also still do as seats are still up for sale. :)

If the link is still live, then there is the possibility that tickets are still available.

Des will confirm numbers this evening, and seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis, so if you want a seat, click through, payment is only ever authorised at that point, so nothing to lose.

Technology is not always our friend, but lessons have been learnt from this one.

It"s tough to test what the website will do when a couple of hundred people constantly clicked refresh from 8:55pm.

Everyone is treated in the same, fair, way and the seats are allocated in the order that they are processed through the system.

Apologies again for last nights delays, but this is one extreme, and if you make it through to play an APAT weekend, I am sure you will appreciate the exact opposite and see what APAT is all about.

Des will post a confirmed player list, hopefully tonight.

The actual payment should be taken in the next few weeks.
