APAT member, Rob Swindells had an incredible Sunday to remember. By a twist of fate, an injury meant he was unable to play cricket for his local side, so instead played poker and qualified for the Sunday Warm Up on Pokerstars with a $215 buyin.
A field of 3690 runners started this high profile Sunday tournament, and Rob was one of them.
Rob, who is captain of the Manchester Poker Club in the APAT Online National League, managed to battle his way through to the money and was then joined by a number of APAT railers who witnessed the rise up the prizeladder.
Rob was pretty much around average stack for most of the tournament, but with less than 100 players left, he started working through the gears.
When the tournament was down to 30 players, Rob found himself in 3rd place and perfectly positioned to make the final table.
And that he did, at around 2 o"clock in the morning. The final table appeared to be an inexperienced one at this level and without needing to get too involved, players were getting knocked out.
An hour into the final table, Rob is heads up with Dennis2410 from Herning. A deal is done and they play out for the win. The luck went against Rob heads up and so he had to settle for 2nd place and $95k.
It"s a tough life.
An absolutely superb performance from Rob, who appeared to be in complete control of his poker play throughout the tournament.
Warmest congratulations to one of the nicest APATers you could wish to meet.
Well played that man.
