to be an excuse for your comparison of Jackson with one of the world"s true musical Genius".
Personally speaking, I couldn"t stand the man - I thought he was a freak. However, I don"t think there"s a problem with comparing him to Lennon when talking about "musical genius" - there can be no denying that Jackson was one of the most well known pop musicians of all time. Everybody knows his music, and could sing a line from a Jackson song,
no matter what their individual tastes are. He was a better singer than most of today"s "stars" before he ever started school!! And as for his dancing - Fred Astaire proclaimed Jackson to be the best male dancer in history.
If his early 80s persona had continued and had not declined into something very wierd, I think people today would be mourning in the same way that they did for Elvis, Freddy Mercury, John Lennon, etc. In fact, I think that many people probably are. After all, even this poker forum has got a thread going that has people taking an interest.
As I said, couldn"t stand the man, but fair play - he really was an entertainment genius.
