was i right or wrong with this move??????????
« on: June 28, 2009, 16:32:13 PM »
blinds 50p/£1 and £2 straddle

i had  9c tc utg+1, utg folded, i raised to £6(had £70 in front of me), next player to me called, folded to straddle who called. flop was  kc jc :2h:, straddle checked, i fire £10, next player raises to £25, straddle folds, i reshove for £53(i would have betted a lot more if i had it in front of me) and he snap called, he flipped over  ac ah so smugly so i flipped my  9c tc and said "i have the nut draw then" and the turn was  4h and the river was the miracle  7d which ment my ten high was no way near good enough to beat his aces, smug twat.

I typed - I deleted - I typed again

Am I wrong here cos the raise was trumped and in the end we are on a flush draw(gut shot s8)  here for all the bread. - Saying that I would have shoved pre - Villain would have called and I would have lost anyway. But all I"m saying is I might have left it alone -- am I wrong

I might fold this in a tourney, but never in a cash game

.50 £1 ---- hmmm tight arse duke would have shoved pre (and would have lost) - but if he didn"t and his post flop raise was trumped he might have folded regardless of Tourney or cash - I said might

i would fold in a tourney every time, why did smug twat not reraise preflop, i could have been raising with kj(it can be a loose table) and his smooth call pre would have not been smug then, would it. im only asking as got flack for gambling on the draw and everyone was saying i was a donk but to me it was the only way to get bread (i have not called money bread in a while, cheers duke) off smug boy was to gamble as he was so tight if you put coal up his arse he will drop a diamond in a week. i did recover most of my losses after another dip but i could not hit a draw, im meant to hit one one in three or four times,

could i have pushed him off aces if i had a lot more bread in front of me

more opinions will be appreciated

You were 42/58 underdog on the flop (would have been a 46/54 dog if he didn"t have the Ac).

So with the money in there, you"re committed, he"s committed and a fold from either of you would be incorrect.

Who was the player who straddled?  I"m confused...

i only sat down with my tourney winnings in front of me as was waiting for friend to finish his session on cash, i do apologise for any confusion but i class a straddle as another blind and the next player is utg as straddle has an option like the bb so sorry for confusion, all i wanted to know i was not a complete donk with this move as everyone playing at the time reckons that i was.

No, the move at the time wasn"t donkish.  Not too sure about the wisdom of sitting down with 70xBBs though...that"s probably your mistake here (imo).

when i do play cash i usually play with 200bb but in this game 80-100bb is usually the biggest stack on the table so sitting with £50 can do damage, if £50 is not enough for me then £200 is then added.

thanks for all your advice, it was not a donkey move, maybe the players are donkfish.

What size is the table??  If it is 9handed then I think this is a fold p/f as putting in 8.5% of ur stack w/ a drawing hand when u r unsure of action behind u is a mistake.  Don"t get me wrong - I like s/c"s as much as the rest of em, but if we r buying in this short and raising from e/p, we don"t want a hand we want to fold and give up tht % of our stack to a re-raise.
