The new guy! (Hi)
« on: September 26, 2007, 12:02:00 PM »
 :)

Hi there. Just joined.

Have a couple questions:

#1: Would you say that it was a bad idea to play in an APAT event (I"m thinking the London regional on Oct 6) as a first-time live-player? Would you recommend getting more experience at live play first?

#2: If I get to Victoria at like 12 and queue am I likely to get a seat?

Thanks guys!

Dave.

Hello Dave,

Answer to your questions.

1 - Definately turn up and play. The APAT is there to give people the chance of playing in a live tournament in a friendly atmosphere. If you are unsure of a few things, just ask, either on here or at the event. We are a friendly bunch, and helpful too. So don"t be worrying about it. Just get yourself down there and enjoy it. The APAT has given many people their first time of playing in a live casino tournament, and they turn thoroughly enjoy it.

2 - We are unsure what the demand is going to be like on the day. So it would be wise to turn up early. But keep checking on the forum because there may be developments which may enable you to pre-register.

Hope this helps.

Dave - turn up and play.  APAT is the ideal place to play your first live tournament.

The English APAT Championship last year was my first live event in a casino other than a couple of rebuy tournaments that I"d played in the fortnight running up to it.  Was a little nervous beforehand, but didn"t have to be at all.  Very friendly atmosphere, and a great introduction to live tournament play.

....and if you get as lucky as Daniel you might even find yourself holding the trophy at the end of the day.  ;)

Dave, Being the shy retiring sober type, I can really recommend APAT tournies they are as people are saying, very friendly and helpful. Its a great experience go for it you will really enjoy it (and as its in London you won"t have Kin or KP on your table -- always a bonus)..
