things that bug me at the table
« on: July 27, 2009, 23:33:04 PM »
i have just come back from a tourney at norwich and just want to air a few things that bug me (opinions are very welcome)

1. winning player saying "sick" as they win a pot off me by getting lucky, why say that, dont i have a chance to moan, they are doing it for me

2. eating pizza, i cant stand the smell of melted cheese(if it was meant to be melted, why do we keep it in the fridge?) and the player to my left was wolfing down a 12" and i was contemplating barfing up just to put them off, also when he had to deal, he did not clean his hands so greasy pizza all over the cards(makes dealing terrible)

3. B.O, player to my right absolutley stunk, i had to keep pushing the pot to him so he did not expose his armpits, i cant say anything as i am too polite but what do i do?

you could put a morale on this and its no pun but it was a "sick" evening and it was putting me off and wanting to demolish my massive chip stack(which i did in spectacular fashion, went all in 5 times, called 2 times and i did not look at my hole cards once)

OH dear 50p"s at the ready

1. winning player saying "sick" as they win a pot off me by getting lucky, why say that, dont i have a chance to moan, they are doing it for me

Smack the fecker it"s just rude not to let you moan first

2. eating pizza, i cant stand the smell of melted cheese(if it was meant to be melted, why do we keep it in the fridge?) and the player to my left was wolfing down a 12" and i was contemplating barfing up just to put them off, also when he had to deal, he did not clean his hands so greasy pizza all over the cards(makes dealing terrible)

Purchase a custard pie an throw it at him when he is trying to riffle

3. B.O, player to my right absolutley stunk, i had to keep pushing the pot to him so he did not expose his armpits, i cant say anything as i am too polite but what do i do?

Tell him he stinks and has a HUGE problem with it and give him a boots voucher rolled up and in the eye

you could put a morale on this and its no pun but it was a "sick" evening and it was putting me off and wanting to demolish my massive chip stack(which i did in spectacular fashion, went all in 5 times, called 2 times and i did not look at my hole cards once)

Standard play in my opinion

I"m fine with all of them, except the BO.

It would put me off my pizza, and me winning that sick, sick hand.

i"m more bothered when people take ages, don"t pay attention etc.

always amazed how distracted people can get when they are playing live, how many other things do you have to consider when it comes to acting in turn, deciding preflop action, posting blinds/antes etc?
Looking forward to making my first day 2

was playing at DTD a couple of weeks ago and there was a guy at our cash table playing chess on his iPaq and constantly having to be told action was on him.    this was annoying, but what put me on tilt was when the dealer told me to put my phone away or leave the table as my texting might slow the game down!!

the term "sick" is a proper American-ism- Canadianism.....(they also say it in Australia). British people who say sick whilst playing poker, have probably been watching to much poker after dark and High stakes.

This includes me unfortunatly. Iv started saying sick in other areas of my life which is very annoying to me and my friends.

When some one calls or raises your preflop re raise with suited connectors and bingos your aces or kings forthe 3rd time in as many orbits with runner runner turn and river for straights and flushes

lesson- don"t expect the standard ina pub league to be too high

People calling for a misdeal when something has gone wrong in the deal. Most times it isn"t a misdeal - just carry on. Most hands that have been dealt won"t be good hands, so every bugger starts shouting misdeal and wanting to muck their cards. I usually try to rein them in by telling them that their hand is dead if they throw in their cards. Happened yet again on a cash table recently when I reraised preflop and the next player then discovered he had three cards. I said his cards are dead but the hand plays on. He said he doesn"t have to look at his cards until its his turn. Everyone else had junk and mucked their hands. Called for a ruling and the casino incorrectly ruled a misdeal.
