First ever time I played live - at Reading, they gave away packs of cards.  I did wonder if it was like that everywhere but sadly it wasn"t to be :D

I heard about a tourney in Birmingham- not sure how accurate this is though.
It goes on for 10 weeks, every friday £30 entry. The first 9 weekly winners play a grand final in week 10 and the winner gets a cruise. I thought it was pretty a pretty good idea till I figured that if 100 people play for the first 9 weeks thats £30x100x9weeks, or £27,000 in entry money to win a cruise which cant cost nearly that much. There must have been a cash prize too.
The other option would be to have the 5 grand final winners back on the 51st friday of the year playing for a prize pool of the other £110,000 or so. Maybe a trip to the moon for the winner.

What about packs of cards, card protectors, T-shirts and caps as promo giveaways.

Any give-a-way gifts come from the players.  Either from the prize fund, or from the juice.  So they are never "free".

Was playing in the massive Dublin tournament last weekend.  1072 players...  an hour or so in, 4 tidy looking chicks went around the tables giving out condoms...  And about 8 hours in when everybody was tired, another bunch of chicks came and gave out tins of Red Bull to every player to keep em awake...

Nice card guards is a good idea..!!

I used to laugh at the idea of card protectors, protect your cards, like they"re going to be attacked or something. But then some bloke i got talking to in a cardroom was telling me a story of how his kings got mucked by a dealer before a flop in vegas in a monster pot, but i forget what happened, all i know is he never got his kings back.

So if anyone wants to give me a card protector in walsall i"ll have one  ;)

I have used a card protector ever since my nut flush was mucked by the dealer in a tourney. If you dont have anything suitable to use just use one of you chips from your stack. Or why not be inventive and use something personal to you. as long as it"s not bigger than the card I dont think there is any restriction.

If you can"t find anything, I have an UltimateBet card protector from the 2006 WSOP that you can have for the price of a pint in Walsall

thanks for all the replies guys...put most of them forward to the marketing guys at this particular casino and they"ve taken a few ideas onboard. had some of them jotted down already but your feedback has helped!
got a another meeting comin up with a sponsor soon so will put same ideas forward for them.

people talking about these "freebies" coming from prize fund/juice, cant argue with that but i do know the casinos and sponsors put a lot of money into promoting the events i"ve been involved in, along with the "giveaways" im trying to help put together here. reason for me putting a post on here was to give you guys a chance to voice your opinions!  :)

thanks again!

If it looks good i"ll take it as long as you give me £5 per tournament for advertising your company  ;D Just kidding i"ll promote you for free as long as it saves my kings or nut flush every once in a while. But if your company makes them, why don"t you make me one with the APAT logo on one side and my head on the other  :P
