APAT UK Team Championship - January 2010

If the event is as popular as it appears and it is limited to 16 teams of 10 players, would APAT consider altering the format to 32 teams of 5 players, so that more forums/teams could take part, to avoid huge disappointment?

I like that Idea....even if there aren"t 32 "individual" teams, there could always be a few "A" and "B" teams drafted in.

Seconded, that way then pretty much all forums who have applied get to enter a team and there"s no decision on who misses out.

I have seen somebody has already put forward SkyPoker Forum for selection, but can i say we could field 2 teams if allowed. We have had alot of positive feedback for this.

Yeah, just to make it clear now, there is no way any forum will get more than one team (10 players) in this event.

I reckon we could fill a 500 seater venue with this event.  That would keep Des busy with the photos.

Not speaking as APAT "staff", but as this Event is already able to attract MANY Forums with 10 players, I don"t think we"ll need to go down the route of changing anything.

The mooted idea was to consider reducing the team members to enable more teams to be represented not as a slight on the numbers of players wanting to play, as there seems to be a huge amount of interest and so many teams will miss out, whether APAT select the 16 teams or they are drawn at random.

If the venue can only accomodate 160 players why not consider reducing the players per team to up the number of teams and create a larger team / forum competition?

If this is the APAT Team Championship, surely it is worth considering having as many teams as possible represented?

32 teams of 5 is much easier to achieve than 16 teams of 10 and lessens the risk of disappointing the numerous organisations who either can"t raise 10 players due to various commitments &/or would be otherwise be left out.

I think it should remain as teams of ten - that way you get a fairer representation of the team"s abilities as it irons out some variance issues.

I agree with this - even though it might make it more likely that I"d miss out on playing I"d say that having a structure with teams of 10 in is much more likely to give a better reflection of the "best" team.

Teams of 5 mean that a couple of people could have a bad day or a couple of people could have a good day and that would make the difference between first and last place (maybe a slight exaggeration - but only slight I think).
