Has VIP been overlooked in your deliberations?

The APAT UK Team Championship will be played at the G Casino in Manchester on January 23rd / 24th, 2010, with play starting at 2.30pm on both days.

The format will see 20 poker communites from all over the United Kingdom compete for the prestigious title.  Included in the field will be Bristol & South West Meetup, the reigning APAT United Kingdom Team Champions and Mary Martin, last year"s individual Championship winner.

The format for the event will be a 10,000 chip, 160 runner, multi table freezeout, with a 45 minute clock.  As with all APAT events, the UK Team Championship will be registration free for members and have a £50 buy in per player.  Each team will feature 8 players, kited out in their team colours.  Points will be awarded to the top forty finishers to determine the Team Championship.

The prize money will be split 50% / 50% between the Team and Individual Championship.  In addition, the owner of the winning Team will receive an added prize of £1,000 and the Championship Cup, while the winner of the Individual Championship will receive an entry to a GUKPT main event and the Championship Gold Medal.  These added value prizes are courtesy of tour sponsor Blue Square Poker.

A total of 33 poker communities applied to take part in the event, cementing it"s position as the most popular community based tournament in amateur poker.  In addition to the 20 teams participating, a large number of spectators are expected to attend and an electric atmosphere seems assured, certainly if last year"s event is anything to go by.

The 20 teams who will compete for the APAT United Kingdom Team Championship are as follows:-

A World Of Poker
Ace Of Clubs
Amateur Poker Association & Tour
Black Country Poker Club
Blonde Poker
Bristol & South West Meetup - Defending Champions
Chezger
Eat My Stack
FISO
Furness Poker
London Poker Meetup
Newcastle Poker Forum
NI Poker
Poker Player
Punters Lounge
Raise The River
Sky Poker
The Hendon Mob
UK Poker Info
Voyage In Poker

Each team should now appoint a Captain and start to confirm their 8 player team selection.  Further details of this event and a free membership can be found by visiting www.apat.com

As far as I was aware, this was never a fastest finger first process.

And as for a comment on changing the rules, I"m sure the extra 4 teams that have received an invite are grateful for the flexibility shown changing from 16 to 20 teams.

The format wasn"t changed.  There was never a suggestion that the order of application would determine which teams would get selected.

That"s Poker Player magazine forum.  When I tried to log on to your forum Andy, the message I got was that you had to have a PokerStars account to enter and as I"ve said elsewhere, this type of event is about opening up poker communities.

Our forum is open to anyone Des, the reason we use stars names is a security feature and nothing more. We still let members in via e-mail with no stars accounts
