As the database only shows the events you cashed in, it gives a rosy picture of your results. A lot of professional players may not be doing as well as we think. Take the example of Neil Channing at this year"s WSOP - total cashes $101k, but the D/B doesn"t tell us that his total buy-ins were $108k. Not suggesting that these guys don"t have great overall results (and NC is not the best example as he is clearly in massive profit long-term - even more so PH & PI), but I bet there are plenty who look pretty good on the D/B but are actually borderline.
