Season 4 Travel tips [The leftovers]
« on: February 19, 2010, 14:02:33 PM »
Thought this might be useful for the coming Season. Initial tentative interweb interogations reveal some travel challenges for Season 4 and maybe this thread can serve as a communal "how to get there" think thank :)

What events are you going to?
How are you getting there?
Please add links if you find any reasonable flights etc.
Particularly interested in Estonia and Austria. Aberdeen appears to be a challenging destination though.

Anyone with issues getting to UK based tourneys via public transport, post up here and I"ll gladly have a look at train times/plane times etc.

Same for International (and Aberdeen ;-) lol) if needed.

aberdeen is easy from anywhere in the UK direct flights to most places in england, some smaller planes are used which are wheelchair accessable from certain destinations. wales might need you to travel to bristol first.

if you let me know where you are coming from i will let you know the best way to come

flybe, easternairways, and easy jet cover most of the major routes and ryanair covers dublin

lets see if i can get to vienna with my bag this time.

spain = women in bikini"s wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
estonia means connecting in copenhagen and a few danish ladies

this years tour is getting a 9/10 mark for me

if only coventry wasnt in europe

The casino in Coventry is probably the nicest looking one in the UK.

Also, Iron, can you not fly to Cardiff?

FWIW If S4 goes to to the ricoh on a saturday match day then you can bag a double
room, 2 tickets, 1 parking spot, breakfast for 2 and 2 complimentary drinks in the casino for 83 quid.
If you need a twin room it is 103 quid.

Hotels in both Swansea and London, near the Vic, seem to be booking up fast.  More than 6 hotels filled to night just whilst I was surfing and checking rates...  I managed to reserve something that can be cancelled if I don"t get a seat, or reservation passed to the girls whom do.

Any recommendations for Swansea hotels near the venue with car parking if possible.

I booked into Singleton Hotel, which says "Free Public Parking" nearby.  It was dead cheap with decent reviews.  I wanted something close to Casino, and it was the one of the closest with rooms available through booking.com.  It will sleep up to three for £65 and includes full english.    Reviews average 8 out of 10, but not great reviews.

I also reserved 2 Club Twins @£80, that look much nicer.   Those are at the Grand Hotel with a few rooms left there.  Not sure about parking..

The Alexander has two rooms left, with free public parking close by and is list as 1. mile from centre.

www.booking.com allows you to book without prepay (most of the time), still get a discount and no cancellation fee if you cancel 2 days in advance.

Is there parking at Aspers in Swansea like the Grosvenor in Cardiff?

If not where is all this free public parking referred to above?

There is a NCP Car Park next door to Aspers. If i remember right, Aspers reception validate your parking ticket so you can get out for free.
