London poker advice needed
« on: February 28, 2010, 10:50:52 AM »
I"m in London for a couple of days this week and as I"m staying about a 10 minute walk from the Vic, I may pay them a visit. I"m an extremely infrequent visitor to the capital and intend returning a couple of times this year, so was wondering whether anyone had suggestions of where else to play either deepstack freezeouts or cash games. Cheers.

Empire for cash as well as the Vic.

Dunno about tourneys, iirc the tourney scene in London is pretty dire unless you"re willing to pay >£100.

The Vic has a few decent tournaments but I"m not sure of the specifics and like Sharplea suggested the good one"s they do have are over £100

Thursday"s looks a good tournament at the Vic if you"re in London then, it"s a £100 +12. Although I haven"t played it, I just remember seeing the structure and thinking it looked good.

The Vic comps are worth playing if you can afford them. The standard of play seems inversely proportional to the buyin from what I"ve seen. Last played a 150 freeze there and it was really basic stuff.

Alternative is the International, near Old St. tube. Some good players there in amongst the chancers. Buyins range from 25 to 100 in the week. You"ll need to be a member in advance but someone will second you if you ask nicely :)
