Stars tourney 259422193
« on: April 06, 2010, 18:19:47 PM »
Just entering the cash in a $22 deep stack game (kaysing).  Feel free to rail and abuse.
4/19
40k chips
Average 27k
Blinds   300/600 ante 50

With the memory of my bubble exit at Swansea still fresh in my mind I might even fold AA!!

All the best

Dave

Railing now, which means based on my usual bokkage ability, enjoy your last few hands.   ;D

Dave is 6/10 on 52k.  Average is 53k.  Below average then.   ;)

Thanks to those who railed, it makes a real difference to have the support.  Finally finished 4th for $190.

Yes Leigh, 9 hours is a long time but I really enjoy the format.  It would be perfect if there were deep stack games out there for higher buy-ins ($100 +).  Although sites have an interest in rapid turnover, like most others I am playng other games along with the DS game.

Is there anyone else who feels the same about higher buy-in deep stack tournaments - if so perhaps we should push to get some put on.

Grateful for any info regarding online deep stack games that I haven"t picked up on.  The main site I use is Stars (5000 chips, 30 min blind levels - $22 and $33 buy in).   My main experience of other sites is that the tournies are shallower stacked and have shorter blind levels.

Once again thanks for the support,

Dave

Nowhere does deepstack as good as Pokerstars.

They used to have a $100 one but it seems they"ve replaced it with a $20 6 handed deepstack.

Don"t you enjoy playing poker?

Or do you only enjoy winning the money at the end of it?

I agree with you Dave.  The deeper stacked games give you much more play.  Most sites are driven around quicker tourneys and players are often looking at their ROI and hourly rates.

If you play poker for enjoyment and fun, then 9 hours is .....    what am I saying, you"re a lunatic  :D   Nice cash though.

If I remember rightly, i think Laxie won a deepstack last year.  She was playing for 13 hours or something like that.

I think you are right, that if it were a bigger buyin, then there is more of a justification to play them.

I"ll keep my eyes out for more of them for you.

Nice result sir.

Maybe we should push for higher buy-ins esp as APAT about well structured touraments affording lots of play.

Lunatic?  The other option was to go shopping with the girls of the clan looking for a ball gown - now that would have been lunatic!

It wasn"t exactly hard work sat with some mates, beers watching one of the best individual performances I have seen for a while on a football pitch.

Would anyone out there support a bit of a push for higher buy - in DS games?

Dave

Stars did have a $100 deepstack with exactly the same structure as you got there. Problem was, nobody played it. It got about 40 runners.

When they changed the deepstacks to guaranteed tourneys, because it wasn"t in the 7.15am/5pm/11.15pm windows (UK times) it got canned. I wouldn"t play a $100 one because it would be out of my bankroll, but I"d have a larger buy-in deepstack at something like 5pm (UK time, again) on a Saturday/Sunday...most people who would play that high are starting their daily sessions at about that time and it would be a tourney that could be played along others. Slap a 10k guarantee on it as well.

E-Mail Stars about it, or there is a thread in MTT Community on 2p2 entitled "Requests for Changes in Stars MTTs". The Stars rep (BryanS) posts regularly in there, you could bring it to his attention that way.
