It was pretty piss poor at our polling station. The problem was the lack of booths (there were only 2). The queue was a direct result of this with polling station staff not issuing ballot papers until a booth was free. It didn"t help that there was also a council election at the same time that we were all made to vote in as well.
It didn"t surprise me that Manchester Withington was one of the constituencies that reported 100s turned away.
As for the argument about people having all day to vote, I think it reflects modern society where people probably couldn"t get out until late. Still, if it says 10pm, you would still reasonably expect to turn up at 9.55 and still be allowed to vote (even if it is taking the piss a bit). I"d love to see what "international observers" would have thought if this had been the Afghan elections...
Well, we will probably be going to the polls again in November. That gives them a few months to sort this out!!
