Guys,

I don"t really see the need for this to become a full blown argument.  We take onboard everyones comments, as always, and try our best to offer the events and tour that best meets everyones hopes and expectations.

We know we are never going to please all of the people all of the time, but we"ll keep trying.

Regarding Ireland, we are working to ensure it takes place in Dublin, and on the announced weekend.  As soon as we have information, we have posted it on the forum, and we will continue to do that.

We will review the direct buyin date today and make a definite decision on that, but at the moment it will remain as it is.

Leigh,
sorry you thought it is an argument, I certainly do not see it that way.   There is a forum here for us to express our opinions, and that is what I am doing.  Nothing wrong with a fair debate.  Its not like we are abusing each other here.

I have expressed my opinion that the direct buy-ins are way too far ahead and that I think the Irish buy-in SHOULD be delayed until you have a contracted date.  Somebody has disagreed with me on the first point and also expressed that as their opinion, which I have not argued with.  Somebody has agreed with me on the latter point.  I have not seen anybody disagree with me.  I don"t think it has become an arguement.

Just one point I never made before.  Because there is a schedule of events presented at the start of the season, and, people book flights and hotels early to get the cheapest possible rates, and, there is always a possibility that a venue will cancel, do you think it would be prudent to identify to the players, when you are happy that everything is solid and booking flights and hotels can be safely completed without fear of venue change.  I say this because I KNOW people have gone ahead and booked the usual locations early, and, I bet they cant get their money back if gets cancelled. (hotels and airlines like to offer early reductions with a non-refund policy)

If I am honest, we all knew that Estonia, Austria and Spain are possible locations that needed nailing down, but, I do not think anybody expected Ireland to be an issue..

Yeah...it"s a discussion..not an argument...so there!  :)

Carl"s idea above is a good one for S5 at the very least.

I make an effort to ensure that my hotel bookings can be cancelled at no cost whenever possible regardless of venue. I appreciate that there can occasionally be some small savings in locking in a "non-cancel" booking but (for me) I rarely find that the difference is enough for me to "take the risk". One of the reasons I started expanding the Travel Tips threads was to pass on the rates I find when doing my research and I make an effort to quote both refundable and non-refundable rates when I find them.

Flights/Trains are another issue and there I"m less willing to take any chances until the venue is confirmed but that is, of course, a personal choice.

On this though, you don"t always have to cancel...there might be an admin fee to change flights with the airline and this is often to be found in the depths of their FAQs.

Just a thought.

There is one casino in Dublin, cant remember the name, but, the poker tournament I saw there, had 10 tables.  5 of them were in a building on one side of the road, and the other 5 were on the other side of the road.

Amazing things going on when table balancing started.

I gotta say, hope it aint that place lol..!!
