Never really understood why the home nations should have a non-playing captain, when the "emerging" nations don"t.

Don"t think you need to qualify your selection in any way at all, and whoever was captain, you should be up there at the top of the selection list.

Same goes for Paul Mac in the Welsh team!

England FTW

Call me pedantic ( and God knows I am ) but what countries do you include in this category Steve. I ask because the best definition I could find was....

"An emerging nation is country that is on its way to becoming an industrialized nation. An emerging nation is a developing country that has achieved some industrial capacity eg: Brazil and South Korea"

Tongue was planted firmly in cheek, hence the apostrophies.

Of course I was referring to Ireland :)

The second choice for the 2010 England team goes to........

PAUL HAYCOCK (ADIDAP)

Paul is in terrific form in live events this season, having racked up a 2nd place in the £100 event at the UKIPT at Coventry in April for £2.3k and a month later winning a £250 GUKPT side event at the same venue for £4.5k.

Only a few weeks ago he won the £100 freezeout at "The Vic" for just over £2k and was also 11th in the GUKPT London in 2009.

His APAT pedigree includes Gold in the Northern European Online Open and Silver in the Welsh Online events this season to currently place him 6th in the Online Rankings, giving him a shot at taking my Title away !!

I look forward to pitching Paul in at the deep end at Nottingham at the end of this month and I am sure that he will do his country proud.

 Welcome to the fold Paul.

Don"t know what to say. I"m as surprised as I am delighted, with so many excellent players you had to choose from.

This is such brilliant news! Looking forward to it already...

Eng-er-land ftw,
Paul.

BTW, the adidap name was retired with the move to Betfair 2. I"m plain old Pears27 on there now too.

I have been doing my research and found out all that I needed to know.

I too have done my research, and i can"t for the life of me find a link for yourself being remotely Welsh, Brian. So excellent choice mate, and with Paul also. Good job and good luck. :)

Time to announce player number 3 for my 2010 England team and that player will be ......

STEVE REDFERN

Steve, I am sure, will be viewed by many as a controversial choice but as I explained in my earlier post, his selection has been made purely on his credentials as a poker player.

At this moment in time, Steve is an amateur player and is, as such, available to play in APAT events and as one of the best SNG players, he is a shoe-in for my team.

Obviously, I get to see plenty of him in action live on a regular basis at the BCPC but for all the talk of him being a luckbox, he is an extremely good analytical player and most of his actions are made for all the right reasons (GUKPT Walsall events excepted !! )

Steve played for the successful APAT team in Manchester in January and was a member of the 2009 England team that finished 3rd in last season"s  European Championships and on both occasions contributed significantly to the cause and was a "team" player in both events.

I know that he will be a proud member of this team and will bring his A-game to every table that he plays on and at the end of the day, I believe that every other side wish that he was available to play for them.

Hopefully, Steve will now accept his place in my team.

 COME ON ENGLAND.

Clear cut choice imo. See you there Steve (assuming all that withdrawal nonsense is out of the way).

To answer your question, adidap was just a slight variation on adidas which a lot of people (wrongly) think stands for "all day I dream about sport". I expect even someone from Kidderminster can work out the modification at the end ;)
