S4 Online National League 2 - Matchday 1
« on: August 03, 2010, 22:17:39 PM »
Matchday 1 tournaments are now available in the Betfair Poker lobby.

The tournaments are on Sunday 8th August 2010 and commence at 8pm.

Please make sure you have registered your details with your chosen club on the relevant club thread prior to the start of the tournament.  If you have not posted your betfair id by 8pm on Sunday, you will not score matchday points for your club. (Once posted, you are registered for the season)

There you will see the division your club plays in.

You will not score points if you enter the wrong tournament for your chosen club.

You have been warned. Good luck at the tables.

Leigh

PLEASE NOTE

Your club may be in a new division, check before you register.

Betfair has recently moved to new software.  Download it in plenty of time for the league games, as you may have to change your poker alias.

Having reviewed the scoring system, we are making a slight alteration to Division 1 only.  Points will now be scored by the top 18 players, with a maximum of 6 players earning points towards the team result.

Where was the discussion ??? Massive disadvantage to the smaller teams. Don"t think it"s a good move at all.

Well not for Walsall anyways  :o  I was impressed in the just finished league with how the few regulars of Walsall managed to overcome teams with 50% more players and remain in contention until the end. Doubt that is possible with this expanded points structure.

Crumbs

I agree with Andy AND Brian!!!

Must be this living upside down ;D ;D

But yes, massive advantage to bigger squads. I cant see where this came from to be honest. I must have missed the discussion point where people suggested this to the point where it was decided to change

Top division is all big teams now, isn"t it?

I like the change. It got crapshooty with two tables left, and with only 10 matchdays there just wasn"t enough to split the teams.

Let me give you a few bits of information regarding this :-

In ten matchdays, 67 players managed to make a final table, only 12 players scored double figures.

With the exception of Cardiff, if any other team had won the league, some of the players representing them in the GUKPT seats would have won them having made 1 final table all season.

By extending the points on offer, it gives a fairer reflection on teams performances in each matchday.

Volume of players does have an impact on the league, but less so in Division 1, where teams were securing points with just one player on the final table.

The change in scoring is aimed at improving what is already a competitive division.  The added value seats on offer are of significant value, and we need to ensure that the scoring system refelects this.

The issue, Leigh, is more to do with halving the number of games in the season than the scoring system. You fixed what wasn"t broke (bringing the games from 20 to 10), it then broke (IYO) and you"re now trying to fix it.

The change in scoring is aimed at improving what is already a competitive division.  The added value seats on offer are of significant value, and we need to ensure that the largest team wins.
