Well, as Ger has pointed out, tomorrow Yarm is set for The Invasion pt 2, and i cant wait :)

Ger, JB and Michelle are up for the weekend and its always a pleasure to welcome guests :) Ger arrives at 2.30, Barber at 3 and Michelle... well no one ever knows do they? It will no doubt start in the Eagle where Matty will fleece us out of a few quid playing darts as usual, and I will get my arse handed to me at pool too!

A few beers later (ok alot) and we will head over to the casino (possibly via yarm highstreet) for the Stockton Massive Homegame, where I will get tangled up in a battle with Ger which will end in one or most likely both of us not making the final table!

Really looking forward to it, got the full weekend booked off so we can give it our full attention after last time where work kept on getting in the way!!!

It is indeed going to be, PRICELESS.

Is this supposed to be a thinly veiled brag that Stu won something?

This would have been believable - but it"s Stu.

Evening!!

Well, its been a very mixed week so far in the Ward household as always!!!

Early doors, I was lucky enough to get selected by Steve Redfern to represent England at the upcoming World Championship of Amateur Poker. What an absolute honour. I am obviously over the moon to have the chance to play for England for a 3rd time. Its not something that you ever expect to be picked for, but i am so looking forward to it.

I can remember talking to Tony about how much i would  like to be have been on the team with them at the Europeans (when they won silver), now it has come true!!

Steve has picked such a strong team to go to battle with, Steve is a top player himself and fiercely patriotic. Asa, Tony and Carl are all fantastic players with a brilliant pedigree in APAT and wider poker, and i am sure that we are going to have a fantastic team spirit, back each other and fight for each other and give the rest of the countries that are playing absolute hell. Win as a team, lose as a team. I am sure it will be the winning part of things for us though :)

On the other hand, my young nephew Elias went into hospital today for an operation on his legs tomorrow to help him walk.

Its a long story, he was born very premature and with Cerebal Palsey, and has thus far been able to crawl, but unable to walk in his nearly 4 years. The doctors have decided that he needs operations on both legs, effectively to break the bones, reset his hips and heal the bones again, which will also involve cutting tendons to allow the bones to heal again. He has the operation on one leg tomorrow, then the other in a month and will have both legs in casts for 2 months each.

Honestly, i feel sick for the poor little fella, but it is something that is hopefully going to enable him to have a much better future, and if it leads to him walking, then i hope the pain is all going to be worth it.

Tomorrow will be nervewracking for us all, especially for my sister and Brother in Law, but i cant wait to go see him thursday and spoil the little hero rotten. :)

Well Done on the deserved pick for England.....

Sometimes the ones we love have to go through pain and we feel that pain acutely ourselves but have to keep upbeat for them, the Ward"s are strong and come from a long line of fighters, fingers (and all other appendages) crossed for the wee man and praying all will come good in the fullness of time.

I"m sure young Elias will soon be walking better than you. Though from some of the photos I"ve seen of you recently, that may not be too difficult :)

Thanks everyone :)

The op has been and gone, we"d man is still groggy but has had a bit of food which is good. He is on an epidural at the minute which is obviously far from ideal. Myself and matty are going up to see him tomorrow, which I can"t wait for.

After that we are going for a few ( ;D ) beers and to see a band called Reel Big Fish them off for a bit of a boogie :)

They are a band that we all grew up hearing so to get the chance to see them in boro is one we couldn"t pass up :)

The home game was back on last night after a few weeks break, and it was great fun as usual :)

Was great to see Phil Tompkyfish again, he has been going through a hard time as you all know, but was in fantastic form last night.

Some highlights from my hungover recollections :

Folding K10 on a xxx1010 3 hearts board to a bet and a min raise on the river.
[ ] i was right

The valet being an utter bellend for no good reason (i was well behaved last night, except for the following)

Some tit in the casino"s £10 rebuy comp who was dealing on one of the tables setting his lip up and being informed that he was a c-unit by half of our table, he soon shut up :)

Matty Ward being the Stockton Luckbox and hitting every hand going.

Came 3rd for £30

Went to Boro for a dance, then realised i hadnt cashed in my 3rd place. FML.

All in all, a great night!

In other news, I have started a little weight loss challenge of my own with all the rest ging on, not for charity or the like, just for me :)

Started off bang on 14 stone on monday, am now 13st 10lbs, so its going in the right direction. I am looking to lose 3 stones hopefully by June in time for download festival.

Its going to be a bloody hard slog, but I reckon its dooable.

Invasion in 1 week 6 days :D
Worlds in 2 weeks 6 days :D :D

Loving life at the minute :)
