FRIDAY NIGHT OUT INFO:

Quote
As some of us want to go casual, meeting up at the G beforehand might not be the best idea, so on the advice of one of Luton"s premier partygoers, Mr Johnny Vac, I"m going to suggest that we instead meet up from 7 at the White House (big Weatherspoons pub, near the cinema) - address in case anyone needs to look it up is  1 Bridge Street, LU1 1SA.

Yes starting to get excited now weeeee

Had a phone call from the Days Inn tonight, apparently there has been a flood and 13 of their rooms are inhabitable. They want me to swap to the Express Hotel near the airport  :"( I have said I dont want to be moved and they are getting back to me tomorrow.

Anyone else had a call?

Ring them back and kick off. Ger rang the hotel to ask what was going on and he was told there was no flood but there is a flood in the hotel opposite. I then rang them and got the same story. I will be kicking off in the morning.

I got that call so I cancelled the booking with them and re-booked with the Icon Hotel; which is just down the road from them.

I"m hoping that"s not the one with the flooding now :-\

NB: a more cautious approach would probably to find an alternative before cancelling the Days, but the bloke on the phone from the Days annoyed me.

It fitted in with your description.

My first thought was that they"ve told the Days that they"ll pay something like £100 a night if the days take their guests, so the Days has bumped the people who"ve only paid £60 ish. But I also thought it was possible that they don"t want to tell guests not affected that there"s a problem as people might cancel if they think there"s going to be building work on flooded rooms.

Gonna phone the ICON see if they can guarantee I"m not going to get bumped to the Days.

I"ve just talked to the manager of the ICON hotel and she confirmed that they have no problems and no guests are getting moved to other hotels.

Obviously there"s a chance she"s lying, but all in all I"d say the Days Hotel really haven"t come out of this well.

This would have been the first time I"d stayed there. In every other event in Luton, they"ve not come out the cheapest and all their reviews are distinctly mediocre and average but I was going to give it a go this time - I"m pretty sure I"m not going to even consider them in future now.

driving home FTW!!  cheaper, less hassle, less chance of being moved to a new location, less chance of being flooded out!!

Sleeping bag and change of clothes in the boot just in case......

Can"t have a drink.... but hey that might help the poker!

And best of all, probably home in time for X-factor! (hmmmm perhaps a good reason to book a hotel after all then)
