Help needed, has anyone got a Win XP Home Edition disc I can borrow?

Unfortunately the gf"s laptop has an awful virus that requires a format of the c drive to get rid, I don"t have a copy on Win XP on CD can anyone bring a version to Luton, or post, beer in it for you

I have an old upgrade version I can copy for you. It only includes Service Pack 2 so you"d need to d"l SP3 afterwards. I believe it"s functionally identical to the full version but the upgrade version needs to see either a pre-existing Windows installation on the hard drive or you need to insert a qualifying install disc iirc.

sorry, yes, do you know if it will boot as a full version. I will be formatting the c drive and therefore will not have anything on the drive for it to "upgrade"/ sp3 is not an issue as I have a legit reg key for the home edition.

IIRC if you install the upgrade version BEFORE reformatting, it"ll boot from the CD (so long as BIOS is set correctly) then look for Windows on C:. It then gives you the option to re-format. You"ll have to use a key (the one I have for instance) for an Upgrade edition, I don"t think a full edition key will work with the upgrade version and vice versa.

Think the above is correct but hopefully someone will point out the error of my ways if not. I"ll burn a copy tonight and bring it with me unless I hear to the contrary.

This is quite possibly the most confusing thing i have ever read.
