Paul raise it up to 28k, George calls

Flop is  ac 8h 5d

Paul bets 35k, Geroge calls

Turn is  jc

Paul Checks, George bets 46.6k, Paul calls

River is  5c

Paul declares allin, George dwells, and eventualy folds

Paul wins pot of 230k

This was the best hand of an excellent final table.  I managed to find out what the hands were from both players, any ideas?

Excellent tournament.  Big thanks to Rich, Leigh, James, Maylis and the staff at G casino Coventry for all their hard work.  Outstanding final table, well done to all the players involved and great to see some many APAT regulars battling out for the trophy.  Well done to Brian for a great victory.

Made it home at last after 5 hours drive through the cold, snow and very tired eyes following a very very late finish last night. Huge thanks to Richard, Leigh, Maylis, James and especially to my travelling companion and room mate Derek Liddle for an amazing weekend.

Cheers also to everyone on my tables, was gutted to bubble but happy with my play and learned more along the way. Managed to take down the £15 Grosvenor afternoon game, finish 5th in the £25 evening game and get some extra pocket money from the cash table, so all in all pretty consistent over the weekend  ;D

Thanks also to the G Casino staff and management, particularly my favourite dealer Alex who could do no wrong.
See you all again next year,
Grant

John Murray"s analysis of the hand was spot on. Standing behind me, when the river card was dealt he said "that will kill the action" about half a second later Paul says "all-in"

James you and your partner were excellent on the Mic, and the feed was so much more stable than usual, made for a very enjoyable viewing experience.

How"s about two clubs for Paul possibly the 8c and maybe the 7c or 9c...and an Ace 10ish type of hand for George or possibly J-8?

I know Paul"s hand so won"t spoil it

I"ll guess a 9-8 type hand for George, trying a floaty call on the flop and take it away on the turn once checked too...

Amazing hand on the feature table.

3 Players see a flop of 3 4 A

Two players get their chips in :-

Vikrum Mehta has 4 3

Grant Spiers has A 3

The turn brings a 4 to give Vikrum a fullhouse

But the river is an Ace for the redraw and it"s a bigger fullhouse for Grant.

The pot was about 45k and has left Vikrum with less than 10k.

I"ll remember that hand for some considerable time. After the BB bet and i raise, then the SB (Vikrum) check/shoves. Very nearly folded and was so relieved when the cards went face up, then experienced the fastest rollercoaster of my life  :D

Anyone know the odds for that turn/river combination? 600/1 ish?

Good to meet you again at the weekend Grant. Well done with the consistent results too!

Re the odds, I think it goes something like this;

With your two hands and the flop visible, there are 7 cards known and 45 unknown. There are 2 fours and 2 aces left and for the result you got it doesn"t matter which order they come in. The odds of an ace or four on the turn will be 4/45.  Once one of these comes, the odds of  the other card coming on the river will be 2/44.  The odds of both these happening will be 4/45 times 2/44 which is 8/1980, which simplifies to 1/247.5 or 246.5 to 1.

For the sequence to be specifically a four then an ace, the chances will be 2/45 times 2/44 which is 4/1980, which simplifies to 1/495 or 494 to 1.

Either way a lucky result!

Alan.

Cheers Alan, yeah was thinking about that sequence specifically. Couldn"t figure it out last night as my head was hurting from the number of cards i"ve seen over the weekend and the long drive home. Was an amazing weekend and glad with how I played, calls and probably more importantly some of the lay-downs I made. Had more than my fair share of luck as well in the other 2 tournaments but glad to have won and been 5th, made up a bit for bubbling the main event. Hope to catch up again in the 2011 season  8)

Big thanks to all the Apat team and G Casino in Coventry for a great weekend.Even bigger thanks to Carl and Paul for letting Don and Lee kip on their room floor.Highlight was Don thinking he could walk on water only to get a very wet right foot. :D Still a few extra ideas for xmas prezzies, rubber ring, arm bands or even a pair of wellies(not sure what size)LOL.
