I will be in Vegas on the 4th jan 2011, will I be the first APATer there in 2011? Can anyone beat me? Will be staying at the Bellagio, any tips for the best tournaments that start in the evening?

Virgin Atlantic is to fly twice-weekly from Manchester to Las Vegas starting in April 2011.

The service will commence on April 3, 2011, with twice-weekly flights departing on Thursdays and Sundays.

The route will be served with Boeing 747-400 aircraft, configured for 14 Upper Class suites, 58 premium economy seats and 379 economy seats. Virgin already serves Las Vegas with daily flights from London Gatwick

The plan for the "Chezger Celebration of Wee man's 21st" is a simple one. We intend to hit Vegas on or shortly after 15/11/2011. The preferred route is direct from Manchester with Virgin. They fly on two days a week and as the 15th is a Tuesday we intend to fly out on Thursday 17/11/2011 and fly back Thursday 24/11/2011.

As posted before this trip could also include a wedding (Adam & Julie).

Hotels will be chosen nearer the time with the help of the outstanding APAT travel guru.

This trip for me is set in stone and the flights will get booked as soon as they appear (next month) cost will be approx £600pp give or take (with a reduction for the airmiles I have). I know connecting flights etc will come in cheaper but the times of these flights suit and having travelled both direct & connecting before I would like to do direct.

These dates are purely for personal reasons, however, if there is a trip mid year from the APAT massive I don't think I could resist.

I have had inside info from a Thomas Cook pilot that there will "VERY likely" be direct flights from Glasgow in the "very near future". Apparently they ran a trial back in September and it sold out in less than 24 hours. The sheer hope is forcing me to wait "til around April / May before I book my summer holiday.

It"s an apat adventure, we just happen to be celebrating the wee man"s 21st as well. All are welcome of course.

Hotels are the easy bit and the travel guru will be hunting fatwallet etc and will be giving us his chioces nearer the time. Connecting flights are a wee bit cheaper but the timings of the Virgin flights are perfect, effectively giving an extra day on the return journey and the opportunity for a massive piss up on the arrival day whilst still retiring early (well earlyish)

He will indeed but we"re much too far off to be looking at hotels just yet. Oh, no harm in looking for window-shopping but I wouldn"t book until much nearer the time and certainly not until flights have been booked.

Also, in the vast majority of cases, any price you can find will be cheaper by booking directly with the hotel online than through Expedia / Hotels.com / etc.

That"s not to say that Expedia &/or Virgin won"t do you some really good deals if you look around but, as I said, not until much later on.

By way of an example, Fatwallet is currently showing discount codes up to 31/3/2011 with the odd one a little further out. Come June/July/August, we"ll see deals arriving for November.

Watch this space...or another one down the line.

This looks very tempting...not sure if my guilt complex at leaving the kids for so long would cope very well plus the babysitting fees would be horrendous!!

I do however have over 35k Virgin airmiles and yes I am a VV too.
