Not staying at the Venetian any more.

Booked the Vdara via Priceline for 3 nights (Sun 20th, Mon 21st and Tues 22nd) for their basic suite for a grand total of...

£158. Inc taxes and not inc resort fees.

GTFI.

Those suites look awesome.

And that"s a great price.

Moving on then......

The cheapest single trip Travel insurance for the 17th to 25th is £13.90. Anyone got a better quote. What cover should I be looking for?

Depends really.

Are you planning on going on Sharplea"s stag do ?

or, and more likely to require a higher level of cover, are you planning on attending Joobie"s Hen Party ?

I understand that the organiser of the Stag is a quiet, teetotal fellow and it will be a staid affair with tea and biscuits, finishing around 8pm..............

I was looking at single trip insurance - moneysupermarket.com seemed to be the cheapest place when I had a quick look; where was this quote from?

When I get round to buying some I"m really just looking at delays, cancels and baggage being covered (to a level that actually covers the cost of delay/cancel/baggage) - whatever"s the cheapest which meets that criteria seems like a plan to me.

Unless there"s anything the more experienced travellers suggest we should look for?

Cheap is not something anyone should be looking for in holiday insurance.

Level of cover is the important factor.

Having spend time in hospital for a serious event whilst on holiday I can vouch for paying a bit more for decent coverage. Too many people say "it will never happen to me" - trust me - it can.

p.s. whilst in the hospital I spoke to the parents of a young lad who had had an accident after too much drink*, they were saying that a remortgage of their house was the only way they could pay for the costs.

* not that that"s going to happen to any APAT"ers

Yes, I have been very careful to  check that they offer the best medical expenses cover, particularly in the USA. Is there anything in the fine print I should look out for?

To be honest the last thing you should be worried about is delays and bag cover, although this can help in those circumstances.

Medical costs in the US can run into tens of thousands of dollars, so make sure that you are covered amply for most eventualities. You will find that the vast majority cover most things, but check for peace mind.

My point about delays and bag cover is that I can"t see any quote that doesn"t cover the really important stuff like medical expenses and personal liability - whereas some of the cheapest on my quick browse only covered you for the really important stuff.
