The APAT WCOAP at Dusk Till Dawn was a fantastic experience, most of which will stay in my memory for a long long time (unlike the spell between drinking jagaer bombs, sambuca and JD then getting back to the hotel on Saturday night  :D ) That Saturday night alone made up for any disappointment that would follow at the tables, I had such a great time with so many great people. Thank you to all the regular APAT"ers, and just as importantly, the new faces I got to put names to and got to know a bit better over the weekend.

Despite my best laid plans the poker consisted of the main event, unfortunately only on the Sunday, and the Omaha on the Monday. A brief summary of both below:

ME - Started very well (despite being *cough cough* randomly drawn with Ian "Pables" Thompson on my left) and got better very quickly, before the end of level 1 knocking out the unfortunate Harry Briggs with  A s 4s on a 4/4/7 flop against his KK, all in on flop. It seemed to be a bad day for many with KK by all accounts in the room, Ian also came a cropper against QQ all-in pre and Q hit. I went slowly downhill afterwards raising then missing with premium starting hands (One I recall involved AQ called down by 2/3 and he hit a 2 on turn) or raising and folding PP"s with overs/draws etc on board. Costly but really only denting my stack slightly. The most costly hand came against Linda Iwaniak when I flopped an open end straight draw, bet out and called by Linda, then in addition turned a flush draw, bet out, raised by Linda and called by me. Hit the flush on river and check called suspicious of bigger flush and duly ran into the nuts, just sigh  ::)

Think by end of level 6 I was down to about 10k, moved table and quickly doubled up again to over 20k on a stop and go in my BB, calling with Qh 9H, hit 2 hearts on flop, shoved by me, called and hit  8). Then had some fish trouble when raising in LP with Ah 10h and getting called by BB, who proceeded to check call me on a 10/7/4 flop and raggy turn only to hit a second pair on river with 4/5 (ffs!). Just that kind of day with my aces tbh, most days your happy with his play but horrid when they donk you with flopped bottom pair. My run of bad luck was complete after catching my ace on flop with A4os against QQ, only to get 4 flushed and busted lol. 10pm Sunday night, 100 left in day 1b and I wasn"t among them  :(

Never mind another day brings another opportunity and Monday was either the DTD £50 game or the APAT PL Omaha, I rightly plumped for anything with the APAT logo attached. This, even though I knew £50 spent on Omaha was really just for some more experience and learning, to get a better understanding of the head hurting 4 card variation. I can recall very little about this hand or that hand other than 3 in particular. The one that busted me out (KK again lol v Bainn"s AAQ10), the JJ98 hand which flopped 8 high with 2 hearts for my flush draw, I bet out and was called, then the J on the turn was declared dead when Danny Partridge stated he"d raised on me on flop (he did actually put more chips in middle than my bet and was given change). Watching that Jack disappear was brutal so I gave up my hand, then the QQ hand I (correctly) laid down that would"ve hit the nuts. I absolutely loved it, the banter from other players, the international flavour round the table, the format and over all I think I played my best Omaha so far. Finishing 28th of 114 for me was a very respectable result and could"ve been ever better, but for my timing with Bainn behind me with his big hand  :D I suspect I"ll be explring PLO a bit more in the near future.

I also loved railing the guys who were going along nicely in all the Sunday & Monday games, well done to you all for cashing, winning, FT"ing and just generally being awesome people (you all know who you are  ;) )

As ever I"d be very glad of any feedback from those I shared a table with, always keen to learn more and expand more - other than my ever growing waist  ;D

Guess last night"s online SH tourney was always gonna end in tragedy. Steady enough start, up to almost 13k and then Boom Shake The Room  :"(

Pre raise with JJ to 1200 and get 1whitedove along for the flop. He left himself about 4.8k so i decided to check the 8/6/4 rainbow flop to him and he duly fired another 1200 at it. I raised him for the rest of his stack and he fortunately popped the rest in the middle with 3/3. Oops, who put that 3 on the river  ::) Fkn virtual dealers for you  :D

Hung in there a while longer (longer than 1whitedove at least), had a couple of nice tables with James Edwards, Chris Kelly and Don Roberts so was fun while it lasted before Chris took me out. Felt it was pretty quick action and was a donkfest after not too long, worrying that i felt that despite more hands seen due to only 5 at table. Obviously concerned about how quickly the donkfest will start in other games with full tables.

Disappointingly couldn"t access the Omaha tonight especially after enjoying the live event on Monday. My DTD page states it"s running on 2nd September with 6 names registered for it. Not quite sure what"s going on there  ???

Those smart phones really do live up to their name. A certain Mr Clegg was apparently visiting the aftermath of the Tottenham riots in the past couple of days and while wandering round the electronics aisle of the local Currys, had a look at some of these phones. One of the phones was overheard calling him a traitor and telling him to f**k off.....I really must buy one, very impressive!

Currently 42/54 in 193 runner $10 tourney on 888. Still got 25 BBs so not desperate yet but needing to build my stack when the opportunities are there.

Well done to Steve Redfern finishing 3rd in 15euro game on DTD last night, enjoyed railing your game mate, nice play and decent return  8)

Update - Now up to 9/49 and quadrupled my stack in 2 hands with AK and QQ  ;D . 16k+ blinds now up to 125/250 with antes.

2nd update - 17/31, moved table and card dead surrounded by 4 of top 10 chipstacks. Blinds 150/300 so still plenty of time  ;)

Final update lol - out 23rd (20 paid FML) after my AK busted by a donk call (13 BBs) with Q7os ffs. Of course I missed and he hit his queen, sick the number of idiots getting rewarded for stupidity. Earlier lost about 6k of my 16k as well to 9/4os after raising and missing with AQ. Hey ho, on we go. we all know the odds are in our favour next time  ::)

Currently 2 of 23 in 120 runner $20 888 MTT. Top 20 paid so hope no crash like last night  ::)

Update - Now 1/17 with 75k..........need to ask the question, why shove for your stack into the chip leader with this hand  :D

2nd update - heading to FT, now 3/10 after donking a chunk of chips to 3 short stacks with AJ (yeah Stu I know  ::) ), 5/5 and 7/7. Still healthy with 50k and blinds 400/800  8)

Final Update - A Shape The Went Of Pear (rearrange as necessary). Went horribly downhill with KK running into AQ and ace on flop, then had AQ on K high flop and had to lay down to a shove, QQ on a 10/J/K flop and another shove laid down (prob should"ve went with this?). Final hand A8 diamonds with 8BB"s called by 6/6 and no help. Out in 8th, very disappointed in how the final table went, lost my last 5 50/50 races so pretty harsh finale. Still $96 in the bankroll so on to the next game tomorrow.

Just busted out $20 tourney with a horror. In BB at 50/100, utg raises to 275 gets 2 callers (yeah it was that kind of table so I call with 6/8 suited for value and get a 4/6/8 rainbow flop. Close to 1200 in middle I fire 800 in, utg shoves with AA for my stack, others fold and I duly call. Runner runner kings FML  :D

Flush hunting....$11 in pot....$2 odds to call....I,d discount the  9s,just to be careful...so 8 outs...roughly 32%....I hang around till the river too if the price is right....but I think you only get to see the turn..awkward position....hope u didn"t squeeze....that"s my simplistic take

Think I just ship them in there. Any turn spade from calling just kills your action so go for the max here

Ruled out the 2.66 call even though i have the odds to call, simply because I need a quick response (timer running down) I"m in mid position and too much in middle on the turn to lay down if I miss the spade. So was really left with 2 decisions. I"m also ruling out the check call from yell 2332, believe he may have something like 7/8 or 9/8, way the betting"s gone and general table play up to now, suspect circoflax has an over pair or a set but yell2332 is drawing..........damn those timers when you have a decision to make!

scenario if BB folds 100% of the time with whatever he had to your rrai.
Quote
suspect circoflax has an over pair or a set
so when u shoved did u expect him to call everytime? eg - he never re-raises in spots like this with air or weak hands etc..

no fold equity only 1 call, u lose money
board
6s 7s 9h

player1 - AsQs  - 46.855% equity
player2 - QQ-99 - 53.145% equity

player1 - AsQs - 41.530% equity
player2 - QQ-99,77-66 - 58.470%

Quote
I"m also ruling out the check call from yell 2332, believe he may have something like 7/8 or 9/8

hmm maybe a bit of narrow range..
tricky spot because to obtain a positive gain u need the BB to call a small % of the time if u shove with his oesd"s.. all on your reads...
my only query is did u think considering yell"s position that after seeing yourself shove and circoflax calling, that yell would still after seeing that action consider his TP or OESD to be good and go with his whole range 100% of the time? if u had no read that yell would stack off this light then a call is more +EV imho.. if u throw in a % of sets and 2pairs into his range to check call the flop re-raise but he won"t call any shoves with worse than 2pair then shoving is the worst option [-EV] especially if your initial thoughts were that circoflax only re-raises in these spots with over pairs and sets..

board
6s 7s 9h

player1 - AsQs - 30.543% equity
player2 - JJ-99,77-66,76s - 32.746% equity
player3 - 66,9h8h,9s8s,8c7c,76s - 36.711% equity [scenario if the BB has a wider range but calls 2 all ins with a pair+OESD a certain amount of the time]....

even when u juggle ranges and allow a certain % of combos for whatever action then the option of a shove is at best just break even...
the option of calling made me chuckle because allowing for whatever ranges and also if the turn is a spade, ACE or QUEEN then add in how u would anticipate the action going, then folding could be a correct decision on the flop :)

Quote
Ruled out the 2.66 call even though i have the odds to call, simply because I need a quick response (timer running down)

have a plan? 2callers, plus a not very great flop texture, so u had 30secs to think before u made your action to consider ranges and how villains would react with theirs, then after the re-raise and call, you had another 30 secs :) plus a time bank?
if u was multi tabling or watching porn etc at the time, then yes its a tough spot ;)
if u had your HUD running, one stat that would of helped u out a bit would of been circoflax"s raise cbet % plus with any reads/notes on them making non std plays [flatting raises with BIG PAIRS pre or slow playing sets etc] would of helped...

Cheers Noble for a great response. With hindsight in this position I should be folding, particularly as my reads are based on one session at this table, having not been on Betfair much since the move to 888. The play from circoflax is pretty standard for someone with the overpair or set (or complete air), though I"m still particularly baffled by yell"s check on that draw heavy flop, especially if he"s not raising behind any bets. His call after my bet and c"s raise is possibly more baffling given the strength of his hand.

No porn on the go to distract me (honest  ;) ), tbh more hopeful than anything that circoflax has an overpair and not a set (anything other than aces I reckon my odds are good), fully expected yell to fold behind unless he"s already made a straight and just being overly cautious about spade on turn.

Didn"t fancy seeing a turn card and missing as stated prev. Yell"s been a bit of a check/call type since sitting at the table so suspect he"ll auto pass action to me on the turn regardless of turn card. With $14 then in the middle, any bet at that stage by me would commit me to the river anyway. Would i check to Circoflax and give up the hand if i missed the spade? Probably not.............and possibly my biggest strength/weakness in poker  ::)

Very appreciative of your insight, I"ve never used a tracker (definitely a weakness) but would value any advice about which to use (conflicting info about one over others, do you choose Nike or Reeboks etc)

Cheers
