It"s been a bit of a hectic week, which is often the case in the build up to an APAT weekend.  The fact that we are heading to Spain just seems to magnify the usual last minute issues.

Still, bag is now packed and hopefully before I catch some sleep, we"ll know who"s bagged  ;) the other Betfair Poker London Live! seat in tonight"s tourney.

I was going to play the satellite myself, but having already bought in direct, decided packing for Spain and trying to get an early night was far better use of my time.

Heading out at 6am to meet up with Rich Baker and Paulie at Heathrow for a spot of breakfast and we should land in Barcelona around midday Spanish time.

All sounds quite civil and laid back.  I"ve a feeling from posts elsewhere, the weekend will be be quite civil and laid back, with copious amounts of alcohol and food to ensure that happens.

Tighty and I, will as always, remain ambassadorial in upholding the respect and reputation that APAT has earned and deserves throughout the world.

Whatever happens on tour, stays on tour, and just no one tell Des.   ;D

A good day yesterday apart from not eating until about 11pm, so missed breakfast and lunch.

Thought I"d left plenty of time to get to the airport, but didn"t plan for the M3 being a carpark at 6:45am.  Arrived at Heathrow, bad dropped, helped the check in staff with three clues on their crossword (not a busy morning), and straight through security to meet up with Mr Baker and Paulie.

Had enough time to grab a cuppa, before we hit the gate for a nice flight (a bit delayed, but veyr pleasant).

I should add that my requirements for a pleasant flight are often very simple.  As long as my knees don"t touch the seat infront, I am quite happy.   ;D

Barcelona Airport is very impressive, that is all.

I put the transfer time to good use, and quizzed Rich and Paulie about Vegas trips for most of the hour.  Very handy indeed.  Getting a trip to Vegas in this year is becoming more and more of a goal.

So, the morning after the usual crazy first night out on an APAT weekend.  We"re in a hotel next door to the casino, however most of the rest of the crowd are in the Excelsior down by the beach. (I say beach, I saw the sea last night, but not any sand.)

Here"s the view from my balcony.

Met up with the guys last night, a few beers, bumped into random other people over for the weekend to play APAT.  I think the British contingent will be way more than the 42 we know about. (If it gets to 50, I will find Paulie D  ;) )

Mr and Mrs Curtis then recommended a decent Indian for something to eat, and Jan, true to her word directed a small group of us straight there.

Points from this meal include :-

Neil Dawson doesn"t do hot spicy food.
Jack Prime doesn"t do salty food, but was hungry.

Plenty of time before the kick off today.  6pm our time, 5pm GMT, so going to meet up with Tighty for our regular "APAT catchup session", and then to see if we can get into the casino early to setup.

I think I saw her at the blackjack tables last night.  ;D

The casino is spectacular, btw.  A few of the guys played last night hundred turbo deepstack.  No one cashed as far as I"m aware.

Stuart Langford did tell me that English at the tables was frowned upon where he was sat, and that one of the locals called the clock on him after 45 seconds.  I did want to say, that"s usually how long it takes before he normally has a moan about something.   ;D

Looks like we will be setup for a great weekend of poker.  Not sure I would be able to say the same about some of those out drinking last night.   ;)

Sucked in by Betfair"s cashback offers again, so have a treble on the horse racing this afternoon.

Selections are :-

Kempton 12:20 - Nadiya De La Vega
Kempton 14:25 - Binocular
Kempton 15:00 - Kauto Star

Not the craziest of selections ever, but 50% stake back if only two win.

It"s paying out about 6/1.  What with the 50% back if only two win, I"ve laid off a little on Kauto, so I"m not out of pocket it it all goes wrong, but the rest is ON.

Can"t seem to stream it here in Spain, so Timeform Radio FTW.   ;D

Never looked happy.  I made some money though.  Would have liked to have seen Kauto win, but the eventual winner seemed to have it comfortably sorted.

Onto the footie bet.

Swansea already in the bag.   ;D

Well, what a long day that was.

Finished at 5am, and as Tighty and I made our way back to the hotel, we both said we"d guess we"ll be awake by 10am, and pretty much as planned, we were both awake.  Just met up with Tighty back in the hotel bar. Seems a bit busier today, and I recognise a few of the people milling around from the tourney yesterday.

We"ve brought back 21 players for day 2, and it should be a cracker.  Four of the travelling crowd are still going, here"s my lowdown on those remaining.

Glenn Laming - Pretty much been Mr Consistent from what I saw on day one.  Went about his business quietly, and has built his stack to 108.5k.  Glenn has been in this position in APAT's before, and accidents aside, I"d expect him to hit the final table here.

Robbie Lakes - Chipleader on 137k, and Mr Aggressive at the table.  His raises have involved grabbing a pile of chips and pushing them into the middle.  It means he"s priced himself into quite a few pots, but has managed to win more than he lost against the smaller stacks.  If his aggression holds, he"s in wth a really good shout to win this.

Beth MacInnes - Played a really good last level of the night, and now has 99.7k.  I now feel my sideline poker tips during a break may have come across slightly patronising, as Beth played a brilliant hand later on, which showed she can really play.  Don"t know where she learnt poker, but it can"t have been from Craig.   ;)

Gary Palmer - Mr J 4.  Was card dead late on last night, and had the chipleader to his right, which meant finding open positions was tough (And it showed).  Coming back with 31.1k means he"s going to have to get busy and probably get a bit lucky, but he deserves a double up and to go a bit deeper in this tourney.  As I said to him last night, "Tomorrows another day, and it might be yours".

So, there we go.  We kick off again at 4:15pm GMT.  Work to do now and until then.
