Online induction for beginners
« on: November 29, 2007, 14:33:48 PM »
If i dont happen to make it to the casino for induction, just would like advice on the following
If blinds are 50/100 and i want to put in 300 do i say raise and then put 300 in or can you say raise, your 100 and another 300,what is the best way
If someone puts 300 in without calling a raise are there surplus chips returned to them and they are deemed to be calling

Will the chips be numbered ?
Any other basic advice much appreciated, as 1st time in casino and like to do things properly ;D

The simplest thing in terms of raising is to declare beforehand.

If you"re going to raise 300 say, "raise 300" and then put it in etc.

As well as making sure that you"re raise is never mistaken for a call it also avoids a problem the other way - if you accidentally throw in a 5000 chip mistaking it for a 500 chip then you"ll be grateful  that people know you haven"t raised it to 5000.

I prefer "Raise to 300"..it avoid the issue someone asking "Do you mean raise BY 300"..which they always do!

Also, if you put more than a single big chip in it"s a raise...regardless of whether anythings was said.

So..if the blinds are 50/100 and you, silently, chuck 2x500 chips in...it"s a raise..not a call!

The chips should be numbered but sometimes these are difficult to see. Your best option is to double check and then keep them in separate stacks for clarity.

Good point, and in fact what I meant.

Maybe I should leave being helpful to other people, they"re better at it than I am. :)

I think the duck would be more edible though.  Not saying I"m against your suggestion, but I was hungry when I posted.
