Home as in part of the UK/GB...whatever...you know the 4 tiny countries to the left of Europe...and a long way from Canada.

I had a thought which might be good all round ....

As the original plans were to have 5 x home counties( a and b ) at 4 players = 40 players....  now its 8 teams x 4 players = 32...  Why not still have 4 teams but increase the players to 5 per team....  so making 40 players total again...

One issue is that it messes up the 1 player per team per table dynamic.

UK/GB?

I dunno...I tried to keep it simple....I always get them confused.

Anyway, isn"t Ireland part of Britain?  ;D

Perhaps we should have a Commonwealth International next year?

Plus...I hear Craig is actual Welsh.

I think Carl has some great ideas there but the point about 1 player per team per table is a show stopper IMO.

How about we make it "home internationals - plus invited guests" and have a team from, lets say......Canada!

and maybe another from the Isle of Man?

This give some extra players the chance to play, less rejected requests.

It also does not appear to mess up the pre planned games which are now 8 players per table just changing to 10 per table, same number of tables still.

Jack (and other captains not playing) probably would not feel so guilty by playing himself.

Total payout pot would go up a little and make it more worthwhile for long distance travellers who would also want to try cover costs.

There are probably a lot more reasons which would benefit everybody...  By the way, I am not angling at getting myself a seat, I am not putting myself forward for this tournament.

Just my twopenneth..

+1 would make my selection headache slightly easier too !

Can I put a bid in for the Isle of Wight, Canvey Island, The Isle of Sheppey, Sark, Jersey, Guernsey...oh and Rockall (although it might be tough to find a team)

I don"t think it could be done. The four-man teams are intended to be separated by running on four tables. I wish I could think of a way that five-man teams could be kept separate.

John,

I may have a solution.  It"s a bit of a longshot, so I"m just going to work some "what if" scenarios through on a spreadsheet, but there"s a possibility, it might just tip the balance.

I"ll get back to this thread with my findings.

I"m all confused now.  Nothing new there then.   ;D

I know the Worlds Team event at DTD is selection based on what passport you hold.  Is that the case for this thing too, or is it just a case of where you reside?

Mucho cheers in advance for defogging the brain.   :)
