The live events remain rake free, but the economics of the current environment online are such that rake has to be charged online

It"s a small price compared to the added value on offer in S5 of course

I understand what you say, but, the added value of last year is halved, and we have to pay more for it.  Sounds like a much lesser deal than previous years.

but there is still added value, even if less than last year..... and paying rake is just so standard in poker I don"t see a problem with it.  We are still massively +EV compared to other normal MTTs. It"s all good.

Is that still the case when there are over $1000 in rake and only $500 in added value?

Live events to pay for. Casino hire, and reg free for players

Live streaming to pay for

Freelance staff to pay for at way below minimum wage compared to hours worked

etc etc

The deal for S4 was exceptional, doubt we"ll see that repeated ever again

Industry conditions are harsher.

Without 888 none of the above would exist for 2011

As it happens not only do players have to pay some rake this year but cutbacks have been made in costs in all those areas too.

APAT remains an outstanding community, with an outstanding offer, run by outstanding people, and me

Long may it last.

I understand the need for a rake and I acknowledge that 888 will not want to restrict numbers in my OP.

Where"s the line though - surely we are going to have a password for the league?

What about the sats?

League game is password protected.

Obviously I will only tell the West Midlands team what the password is, I wouldn"t want anyone else trying to win it.   ;)

If you played a conventional MTT with a $50+$5 buy in, you would not get the added value seat.... so the $500 is +EV and is a benefit for APAT.  Surely all good?

In that case, you may want to change the APAT "About" page as it now only refers to live tournaments being regsitration free.

I do understand what you are saying about the rake funding live tournaments and expenses etc.  I would also say that 888 have a great deal sponsoring APAT, maybe even so good, that at the end of season it might even cost them zero..

i dont think there is any need for a password and the more that play the better for APAT,888 & the players taking part. And im sure there are many players playing APAT that just stumbled upon APAT online and just started playing by a chance finding

Would you not say that as a business if I was to work in partnership/sponsoring a team/other company that the best outcome for both is that its costs both companies Zero.. If APAT get all the added value and it costs 888 nothing, then happy days they will look to continue supporting APAT for years to come..

The Apat / 888.com deal is Sponsorship not Charity, it is a two way relationship but ultimately it is a marketing strategy.

This is a process through which companies strive to build strong customer relationships and create value for their customers and very importantly, for themselves.

This.

Of course, we could have free added value rained down on us by a sponsor in a deal that is just too good to sustain from a business perspective...... oh wait, sounds like last year.

If it costs 888 nothing to provide added value, then we have the makings of a long and fruitful partnership.

Foggy, I aint in a bad mood..  I have not even been arguing with people..  I have expressed my view of the new 888 online rake..  Was gonna say more, but cant really be ars ed..!!  Everyong is getting REALLY defensive and I aint even attacking anyone or APAT..!!

yes he is

Eh?  No even sure I know who you are, but you must know me better than I know myself, or if you were sat here with me right now, you would know what sort of mood I am in..  Certainly not in a bad mood..

I am not sure how to answer that, except to say...  I feed myself..  If APAT were feeding me, your comment would be relevant..  (Unless you mean something completely different)
