APAT UK Amateur Championship: Live Update - Day Two
« on: December 09, 2007, 14:03:26 PM »
23 remain, and they will all be taking something home. But who will take the gold? Will Rich Offless show his utter dominance of APAT tournaments recently, and repeat his triumph in Walsall not 2 months ago? Will Simon Auckland continue his dominance from day 1? It is still anybody"s tournament, so join us from 2.30pm (ish) for the trials, tribulations and soap opera that is the final day of the APAT UK Amateur Championship!

Players are taking their seats now. I"m expecting it to be a bit crazy at the start as the short stacks try to double up quickly to give themselves a chance of winning. We shall see...

Caroline Burgess is the first person out, after her Q-Q was cruelly beaten by Simon Turton"s A-J, the big A falling on the river. Caroline takes home £75 for 23rd place.

When we hit 21, we will go hand-for-hand.

Daniel Downer exits in 22nd after his A-K was outdrawn by Simon Turton"s Q-9 and also takes home £75. It"s BUBBLE time...and we are now hand-for-hand.

Right on the bubble, Mark Hayter pushed all in for 70k on a 6-9-7-J-5 board with 3 spades on. The pot was about 110k, and Lee Smith was left with a very difficult decision - call for your tournament life on a draw heavy board, or leave yourself with 70k to play with, when the blinds are 4k/8k. Lee eventually passed, flipping J-6, only to see a smiling Hayter casually flip 6-3.

Ouch.

The clock has been paused at 4k/8k whilst we are hand-for-hand.

Andy Cave is the bubble boy. Blind vs Blind, he pushed in the SB for 23k with A-4 and was called in the BB by Lee Smith with K-6. The 6 hit the flop, and no Aces came to save Andy, who takes home £75.

20th down to 10th now take home £400.

Rich Offless OUT in 20th, pushing to steal with J-4 only to run into A-Q of Rob Plaistow. The Q-2-6-A-7 board was no help to anybody, and Offless takes home £400.

Dominik Hediger is OUT in 19th, also taking home £400.

Andy Pyrah OUT in 18th, he ran his A-J into his opponent"s A-K. The 9 high board failed to improve either hand and Andy headed to the rail, £400 richer.

Eric Riley is OUT in 17th, taking home £400.

Brendan Duffy is OUT in 16th. He pushed with A-J and ran into 8-8. The 7-Q-Q-9-4 board was no help, and Brendan leaves £400 richer.

Tim Magnus is OUT in 15th, after his opponent filthily rivered a flush.

Mike Gale is OUT in 14th after pushing with A-6 only to run into 10-10 which turned into a set on the flop and a full house on the turn.

Both men take home £400 for their efforts.
