Felt right at the time..but now doubting it.....
« on: April 18, 2011, 20:37:10 PM »
AoC game, Final Table.  Top 3 get paid.

4 left, roughly 80k, 70k, 50k, 40k.  I have 40k.

blinds are 3k 6k.  7mins until 5k, 10k level.

UTG Chip leader raises to 15k.  (LAG)
fold fold
Me in BB with  jh :3h:

He re-raised each of the last 3 hands and took them all down.  The other 2 I felt were clinging on for 3rd.

I called for 9k.  Flop was Jack high, I shove he called AK..K on river...Obv annoy at the river card, but I was told (by a good player imo) that it was a loose call with the 9k.

It felt right, but thinking it over, I could have folded and waited for a better position?

Trying not to be results orientated, as i"m more annoyed now by my call then the river card.....

Waz, the call isn"t loose... it"s awful. With a stack of less than 7xBB, you should never ever be flatting pre. If you think the raiser is at it, then a shove is your only move.... but I"m not shoving with J3 knowing that he is committed to call.

Just fold, then open shove ATC in the next hand that is folded to you.

yep steve is right there . Bit harsh but true it was bad !
What would you have done if you miss flop ? You cant call then fold . Shove or pass pre .

Look at stack sizes, you shouldnt be peeling anything unless you are doing some elaborate stop n go which wont work anyway.

And choosing this hand to defend is well, terrible

Sorry
Looking forward to making my first day 2

oh so true...

The AoC are a bit of fun for £11, and I enjoy them, and cash most of the time, the play plays totally different to a "proper" tournament.   I see the huge massive embarrassing error, and we learn and move on...

......Now I just wonder now how many are reading this, and thinking..England A...omg... :-[

I will do better.........

Yep have to agree with everyone itt, bad flat pre unless you plan to stop and go but nowadays nobody really gives credit to the stop and go (i know i dont!) if im at a table where the players havnt been playing i could see flatting aces and check/jamming flop, i may do it with kk/qq too but when our stack size is such that the pot compared to our stack is so vital i dont like taking the higher varience lines in hands, long story short just shove pre and you`ll get called a bunch and thats awesome because we have ACES!!!!! :)
