Really sick Louis, at times you wonder why we play this game!
Yes indeed!
I am reflecting on this.
I think I will take a mini-break before looking at the calendar for a next event ... perhaps it is a sprint to Vegas??
I think the answer for me is to play the perfect tournament and win (something big) ... I made a few mini-mistakes along the way and could have perhaps extracting a few more chips by betting out more versus trapping people ... only for river cards to kill the action ... obviously a moot point as without the card killing action on the end I do get all the chips ...
I was delighted with one hand where I raised early position with 97o ... Blinds 150/300 (25) ... Raise to 750 ... micro re-raise to 1750 ... I am delighted to call ... I am playing c55k ... my oponent c35k ... the flop is the fanstastic 658 rainbow ... I check ... he bets ... turn gives the flush draw ... I check he bets ... I call (could have shoved) ... river gives the potential flush ... I ponder and check ... he tanks and makes the excellent check ... very close to looking for the bet with I guess an overpair ...
I could have value bet the river ... and might get paid ... but want a larger chunk of his stack ... very good player ... need to check who he was ...
Anyway ... had I gathered more chips the dynamics of everything else are changed ... I fought through the tedium of a 2 hour card dead phase with minimal loses ... before getting it all in good to go to 79BB ... so all the minor mistakes and marginal actions fall away to be engulfed by the monster bad beat ...
Not sure what is next up ...
