Decline in poker funding
« on: July 16, 2011, 20:16:14 PM »
First of all I would just like to say what a great job that APAT do !! we wouldn"t be able to have a good all year round tournament without a lot of hard work by everyone behind the scenes !

The thing that I have noticed is when I first started playing with APAT we were had prizes of GUKPT seats for all the winners on Blus SQ, then we went to Betfair and the package that they gave was excellent , this year we are on 888 and the seats are now UKIPT( 500 quid ) , for the worlds we are with Dusk Till Dawn and the seats are (300 quid deepstack ), what will be happening next year I have no idea but to me it seems a steady decline in the extra prizes the last 2 years. Could this be to the economic climate  maybe ??

I"m not knocking APAT or our sponsers but just wondering what anyone else at APAT thinks about this, I know the extra prizes are not the reason we all want to win a gold medal  :)
I might be in the minority and it won"t be the 1st time LOL

Just after a bit of feedback ( and not too much swearing please ) LOL  ;)

The added value is free - anything that is added for free is a good thing in my opinion!!

Harsher climate in the poker world with growth problems/traffic recession on many sites since 2009

Exceptional Betfair deal struck in early 2010, bit of a one off element to that

Added value often relates to the live events of the sponsor concerned eg Blue Sq = GUKPTs, DTD=Their events.

For 888 I think there was a view (probably a correct view) that the growth large buy in tour in the UK was UKIPT and with GUKPT numbers falling in 09 and 10 then the UKIPT was the way to go. This is irrespective of the relative buy ins.

All the sponsors provide terrific value in their own ways, of course. Without them the events would not be registration free (one of the major differentiating factors of APAT, still, after five seasons), there wouldn"t be updates or wouldn"t have been live streaming, just to name a couple of areas aside from the added value to players

We (APAT) and players should be enormously grateful to them all. I think we are, generally!

IMHO the fact that this is being mentioned is a reflection on how much we have been spoilt in previous years

I think regardless of value that a prize of a FREE seat in a major tourny is exceptional by any standards and as mentioned the fact that APAT tournys are fee free is great value in itself.
You can only play pocket jacks 3 ways, all of which are wrong.

It's only a gambling problem if you are losing :D

I"m with the majority.. It"s extra and it"s free :D... In fact I"m more than very happy with the extra value, was lucky enough to win added value for finishing in top 4 point scorers with team Luton last season.. APAT honoured me with the buy ins to the worlds at DTD this season and for that I am one very happy chappie... Whilst we are the subject of added value.. Rudders jnr in last 11 of his UKIPT freerollling courtesy of winning his buy in with 888 .. MBN !!!
