interesting situation...comments please
« on: August 18, 2011, 16:00:32 PM »
DTD Grand Prix (live qualifier) with 15 seats up for grabs. About 75 players left and blinds at 400/800.

Player A raises and I call with  ad   qd.

Flop is   jd    9c   7d  and player A shoves for about 9k.  I have 65k and make the call and turn my cards over.

What I had failed to notice is that there is ANOTHER CALLER who I hadn"t originally seen and he is still to act and oviously likes the flop, even after he has seen my hand. He has around 40k behind.

My question is, if you were him, what would you so here ??

What was the original raise to?
How much is in the pot pre-flop?

I wouldn"t worry about what other people should do. He has good information available to him as he can see you hand so it would depend what I had. If I had good equity vs your hand and felt I was ahead of the shorty I may call to see non diamond turn or I might jam hoping you will fold
Looking forward to making my first day 2

Note though I would have to have a very good hand, not just 1 pair. Probably favour calling as can fold if you hit or charge you wrong price if you dont

My first instinct is to call and play it a card at a time but there are a lot of different things I would also have to consider......

Firstly what is my hand?

If I'm not beating you it is of course an easy fold.

If I'm beating you, and there are a lot of hands ahead of you here, I could consider shoving... But, this depends on what you have been doing in earlier hands. Are you likely to play 40K of your 65K on a flush draw if I shove? Is it worth risking my own tournament life if I call and then you shove on the turn?

Majority of the time here I think I would just call if I was ahead and let the hand play out. If you make any plays or shoves after the turn my decision is easy... I'm ahead I call, I'm behind I fold!

If i was him it depends on 1. what my hole cards are, and 2. do i think you can fold if i reshove. im probably folding though :D
You can only play pocket jacks 3 ways, all of which are wrong.

It's only a gambling problem if you are losing :D

Boingblitz only has the option to call or check he wont be allowed to bet.
So
call the flop
check the turn and river until a  9d  hits the board then Allin.

Bet the flop 69% pot, bet and the turn 84% and  check if a diamond falls unless its a  9d then its allin.

too true
you can no longer bet after exposing your hand only call.
if i have two pair, set or a hand taht can beat the flush you r going for and if i have the chips i would call the 9k.
tafter all thats the max i can lose

NOW we are getting there !

The TD announced that my hand would remain face-up and that I would receive a 1-orbit penalty at the end of the hand.

When the  :as:  fell on the turn, I announced  "All-in" and the 3rd guy protested that I couldn"t do that, but could only check or call. The TD said I could do that and so the 3rd guy folded.

River came   kd  so I win anyway, but what do you think of the ruling ??

Also, if the guy had shoved on me after I had exposed my cards on the flop, it would have been a difficult call as he could have crushed my stack if I didn"t hit and this was a satellite....15th is as good as first.

I raked in a massive pot, went up to 90k, sat out an orbit......then didn"t get a hand for over an hour !!

Ruling is standard these days and the correct one imo as long as it was a genuine mistake.

I accidentally exposed my hand during the Apat Scottish open 2 weeks ago.
I was first to act and raised with TT it folded to scouse who called my raise.
We had been talking about stack sizes during the hand and for some reason
i thought it was a showdown not realising there were TWO players still to act
I flipped over my hand :-[
TD got involved and I was told I could only call or check but not raise!
Turns out the two players folded and scouse checked to the river with 99.
Im glad no over cards flopped on the board.
