Pokerplayer Grand Prix clashes with Apat team event :(
« on: September 21, 2011, 00:55:27 AM »
What a disappointment.

The final live event was initially advertised as being in December. The date has now been announced as October 22nd which is the same weekend as Luton.

I am sure there are quite a few (especially Andy D who is doing very well) who will now not be able to make it.

With 2 games to go it now raises a bit of a dilemma.

I am on the borderline of making the top 30 BUT as I cant play the live event, should I play the remaining 2 games?

The next game is a freeroll, 1k up for grabs and I just cant resist free money plus these games are really fun. The downside is that if I should do well I could be depriving someone of a seat that CAN play :/

I recognise quite a few names on the leaderboard that will be at Luton so what will you guys be doing?

Its a tough one, but I"m pretty sure people will respect whatever decision you make.

The PPGP gives a decent return and you have invested a lot of time in this so far.

I"m fairly certain in previous years they have invited those further down the list of qualifiers if people in the original qualifying places give backword, so they still get the intended number of players.  I suppose the clash could actually be good news for those just outside the top 20.  :-\

No contest really Rob, I will be playing Luton but dont want to deprive someone of a seat by making the top 30. Last year I was 32/33rd and was a bit peeved when I found out quite a few didnt turn up.

I think I will keep playing the league and then send an email if I make top 30 and hope Helen is right and the seat can be passed on.

So annoying because its one of those games that I really want to play but keep missing the boat.

So much going on in the uk now pokerwise that events are always going to clash. Like the  coventry Goliath and Apat worlds recently.

Yes but you usually (lol) get told in advance of the date of whatever you"re trying to qualify for. In this case it was published as December. Only they moved it to October and only announced it after we"d played 6 events. I wouldn"t usually attempt to qualify for something I can"t attend.
The poor sods who do qualify will have 10 days to arrange a trip to London for a Saturday night. And that"s assuming the magazine can publish the correct leader board immediately after the final round, which atm seems beyond them 10 days after the last event even though they have admitted it"s currently wrong!
