Congrats Carl - pretty incredible considering you were so short stacked at one point on the final table.  Well played.

Cheers to all involved for a cracking tourney.

Great final table line up there. Would have made for a good live stream for sure.

I think the winningest (is that a word) player is Rob Swindells, who"s playing for Team GNF in the upcoming UK Team Championship.

Good to see Bill Sheppard mark his first APAT Live cash with a final table too!.

Good luck to the remaining 9!

Matt, thanks for that..... As usual a brilliant weekend of good APAT poker and banter. It feels so much better than previous ones for the obvious reason. And as Paulie said, why shouldn"t I be chuffed....  ;D

Just got back home. Was gutted at the time but on reflection happy with my first live medal. Ran god-like for 1.99 days and it would have been harsh on Carl if I had luck boxed HU.

Carl played great and thoroughly deserved the win.

Thanks to Tom and Paulie for their hard work.

The People"s Republic of Yorkshire finally hosted an APAT event, and whilst the close proximity to my house made this event a goer for me, I would be interested in what people thought of the venue.

Great to meet up with so many people (new and old) over the weekend. The APAT community spirit is just brilliantly unique and having not played an event for over a year I have sorely missed this.

See you all in Manchester!!

Congrats to all those who cashed and especially those who made the medals. Special mention for Zac Crosland who Final Tabled his first APAT main event, no mean feat. Chuffed for Bill Sheppard to finally make the cash in an APAT... and Rob, you are going to have to negotiate with your missus to let you out more  ;)

Thanks to Tom and Paulie for all your efforts, and as for the venue I thought it was absolutely fine except for the standard of some of the dealers. Obviously the better dealers are working into the early hours so they are not available at 2pm in the afternoon, but the young lad we had for the early levels was abysmal, enough said.

Just checking but

The winner of the UK Amateur Poker Championship will win an "added value" main event seat at the WCOAP, where the main event winner will earn the trip of a lifetime to Las Vegas in the summer of 2015.

Have I won this seat then? What are the details for that?

Well played Rob,(and all the other cashers)  looks like your run good continued. (Calling a 4 x BB raise with 7 5 :"()

Just like to say the updating was back to APAT standerd so well done to Tom & Paulie plus anyone else that helped out.

A bit of a low turnout, was expecting more runners from a well supported card room, may be a bit more advertising would have helped. But that did not deter from the APAT spirit.

Next stop Manchester (Yorkshire Yorkshire Yorkshire)

Another great apat tournament thanks to Tom and Paulie for running everything so smoothly Thanks also to Tom for convincing me that a trip to Dublin would be a good idea , we"ll have to see , depends how much my kids cost me over Christmas  :). Well done all the players who cashed I have to mention Scott who however now lives in Cornwall but is a Plymouth boy and Rob who came second . He frightened me to death on my table when play started , I certainly wasn"t getting involved with him unless I hit hard, a very good player. Well played Rob , Frazer .

Gutted to have been the bubble boy but really enjoyed the tourney played in a great spirit. What happened to my chips Craig? I was hoping you would have put them to better use! Well played Bill after you won the battle of the shorter stacks and went on to ladder to a great final position. We might still be able to be friends despite you supporting the wrong half ha ha
Well done to the medal winners and all those that cashed. (I will get over in a week or two)
Thanks for the regular updates tom, Paulie and everyone else involved, great job thx

Here is an odd one....

Thanks for the thanks from some of the other players who have already posted..

I had a really great weekend and anybody who sat at the same table as me knows that I like a drink and it was a killer not having any on the Sunday as whatever happened I still had to drive home.

I am "chuffed" as Paulie put it and I am happy that others have congratulated me on here as I do not get many live cashes, this making it maybe about 6 or 7 in nearly five years of live play but it is playing in the tournaments and atmosphere of an APAT one that I feel has helped improve my game more...

I"m not sure if we had the same dealer as Ian did but I heard that most of them were brand new, one only being in the job for FIVE days and they did fine enough for me... Hopefully they took on board the advice given by some of the more experienced players on the tables and take it as a learning curve. The TD was helping them a bit, especially with some of the bigger chip counts and he appeared quite patient with them so it can only help I suppose....

It"ll be a while for my next one now... Coventry more than likely....

On the turnout front it was a little disappointing especially as Yorkshire had been on the "request list" for some time amongst the APAT regs.

We were affected by the fact that the G Merrion, also in Leeds, was putting on a £50 / 30k stack comp (with one rebuy) on the same day and DTD was also putting on a £125 event too.

We lose some players who can"t commit to a 2-day event and would rather play a worse structure (in my opinion) because it"ll be over in one day.

On the casino staffing front, I had my niggles but overall I though the cardroom staff managed pretty well. Patrick, the manager, has only been in place for 6 weeks so he still working out a few bugs and staffing issues..including some sickness problems on the day.

The buffet not being ready for the break was poor...the kitchen / serving staff had ample notice of when it was expected and missed it by a good 30 minutes (as we got started late).

Big ups to Tom for sticking to the APAT line on not paying the bubble...when asked why we don"t his answer was cracking..."because it"s the bubble".

Despite some quite vocal objections from one particular person the bubble was NOT paid as they couldn"t get unanimous support for it. Thanks to Rob S for that...it cut through all the cr*p.

I confess to an internal (and entirely personal, not APAT-official) grin when the most vocal proponent of the bubble being paid left with a min cash.

My first outing as an "official" updater...hope you liked it....and they are right, it"s a lot more work than it looks!
